It was my first day of 12th grade, my senior year, the last year I would be in high school. I was having very conflicting feelings about it. On one hand I was happy that the hell we call school was finally going to be over. But on the other hand, I'm going to have to go to college and get a job. Move out of the house. I really wanna go to Hallsworth(made up college name), but it was out of state, and I didn't wanna leave my family behind. But I would have to if was going to my dream collage. I hopped out of the shower and got dressed. A t-shirt and jeans with my favorite letter man's jacket. Navy blue with white sleeves, I got it from my ex boyfriend before he broke up with me. Let me keep the jacket though. He's a cool guy, we're still friends actually. He would be taking me to school today. I grabbed a piece of toast and put it in my mouth while I tied my shoes. "Oh Jessica, I can't believe it's my baby's first day of her senior year. You know my senior year I..." I tuned her out after the first sentence. Don't get me wrong, I love me mom, but she had a habit of making things all about herself. " I bet you'll be voted prom queen just like me, and my mother, and her mother, and probably all the mothers on my side of the family. Good genes, you know?" I rolled me eyes. "Yes mom, I know. Alex is going to be here soon so I gotta go." I stood up and finished the last piece of my toast. "Ok, bye deary!" I awkwardly hugged her and walked outside. I sat on the porch of a minute of so before I saw Alex's white sports car. "Hey, Alex!" I said as I got in the car. "Hey, Jessie. How are you this fine morning?" He asked as he drove down the road. "Eh, my mom was being more annoying than usual. Probably cause it's a new school year." I huffed, slouching in my seat. "Ya, she always was a bit weird." We spent the rest of the car ride in a comfortable silence.

We arrived at the school and went to the principals office. Alex had forgotten to pick up his schedule last week, so I was coming with him. "I don't get why you didn't just come with me when I got mine." I said leaning against the wall. "I told you! I was taking me little sister to soccer practice." Alex said huffily. "Kids, quiet down." A teacher said as they walked by. We both rolled our eyes. "Couldn't she take herself? Hannah's like, a teenager now right?" "She's eleven Jess." I let out a long whistle and looked away awkwardly. "Anyways! Lots a people waiting to get their schedules huh?" I said trying to shifted the conversation. "Ya, though it does make sense. Most of em look like freshmen." The person that had been in front of us came out of the principals office, and Alex went in. I stood on the other side if the door waiting for him. I let out a sigh, it was so boring waiting here for him. I was jolted out if my thoughts when someone walking into me. "Hey, what the heck man?" I said, more aggressive than I had intended. "Maybe you shouldn't stand on the middle of the hallway." He retorted, his brown eyes glaring at me. "And maybe you should watch where you're going." I spat. He scoffed and walked off. "So, what was that about?" Alex said from behind me. "Jesus Christ, man! You need to stop doing that." I said running a hand through my brown hair. "Oh whatever. Are you just not gonna tell me why you were talking to the hottie?" Alex said playfully. "He bumped into me. And he's not even good looking." I said while we walked down the hall. "I beg to differ, but alright." He shrugged. "I have Ms.Green for home room, what about you?" I groaned, "I have Mr.Smith." "The creepy history teacher?" I groaned even louder. "Ya." Alex looked at me worriedly. "Didn't he like, sleep with a student last year? And get caught." "The girl told the staff, but they didn't believe her since there wasn't any evidence." Alex's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "This school is horrible, I'm so glad it's our final year. "Same."
