Ryuko POV:
Hi! My name's Ryuko Tatsuma, pro hero Ryukyu. I'm on my way to meet an old friend of mine. Her name's Akiko Aoki. When I arrive at the café where we usually meet up, I see her waving me over. "Ryuko-chan over here!" Akiko shouts.
I giggle and walk over to where she's seated. "It's good to see you again, Akiko" I say with a smile.
"How are you? It's been forever since we last saw each other! Do you still like that ninja hero? Are you secretly dating? Tell me, tell me!" her excitement reminds me of my intern, Nejire Hado.
"Calm down, Aki. You remind me of my intern with how many questions you asked me. But to answer your questions, I've been doing well and I still admire Edgeshot but we aren't dating."
I sit down across from her and we continue talking about our lives and memories from our childhood.
~~~~~~~~~~Timeskip~~~~~~~~~~
As we exit the café, a man wearing a dark brown trench coat walks past Akiko, ignoring the fact that he bumped into her. "Rude much?" she says, looking back at him and scoffing. We continue on our way to get to the park we visited every day in middle school. As we get closer to the park I notice Akiko stopped walking.
"Aki-chan why'd you stop walking? We're almos-" I immediately stop talking as I see a horrible sight behind me. Akiko.... There's blood dribbling down her chin from the corner of her mouth. And her chest... There's a blade going straight through her chest.
"AKIKO!!" I scream out as I run forward to catch her before she falls. "Akiko what happened? W-who did this to you?" panic is visible on my face as I see my friend bleeding out in my arms.
"I did. And I won't stop until everyone you love is dead." says an unfamiliar voice. I look up to see the man from earlier.
"Why? Why would you do this to Akiko?! What did I do to you?!" I shout in anguish.
"Shut up! My family died because of you! You failed to save them and went on with your life like nothing happened. So now I'm gonna show you what it's like to lose everyone you love. I'll make your life hell!!!!" his face is red as he rages.
Seeing my dying friend and the man who harmed her made me snap. I gently laid my friend on the ground and stood up. "I'll stop you from hurting the people I love. Even if it means I have to kill you!"
Overcome by anger and grief, I used my quirk to transform into a dragon and tried to swat him. The first two swipes resulted in me hitting a metal wall. "Metal manipulation? Not a bad quirk. But it won't help you now!" I yell.
Manipulating metal must be exhausting as I see him falter for a moment. I take it as an opportunity to attack and slap him into the wall of a nearby building, knocking him out. Immediately after, I deactivate my quirk and run over to Akiko.
"Aki look at me. Stay awake alright?" I grab her hand as tears begin to fall from my eyes. "Don't die on me, please. You promised we'd always stick together."
"H-hey don't c-cry, Ryu-chan. K-keep on s-smiling for me..." she said, coughing as her lower lip began to glisten with her blood. "S-save your t-tears for the s-special moments i-in life. I'll a-always be w-with you......."
Akiko's eyes were dull and the spark that was usually there had disappeared. She had stopped breathing. It was all too much for me as I broke down, pulling her into a tight hug and mourning the loss of my best friend. I never noticed the arrival of the police or the villain's arrest.
"Hey, don't cry. You're gonna be okay," a familiar voice broke me out of my sorrow. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up to see Shinya. "Tatsuma-san I need you to let go of your friend. The paramedics and police need her for their investigation."
I reluctantly let go of Akiko and watch as two paramedics carry her to an ambulance. "Kamihara-san, please don't go," I plead, feeling hollow inside.
He crouches and pulls me into a hug. "I won't ever leave. I promise."
Shinya POV:
My name's Shinya Kamihara. Most people know me as Edgeshot. I was patrolling in my area when I heard a loud crashing noise. I hurried to the site where I heard the noise and found a man slumped against a brick wall, presumably knocked out. I noticed a woman on the floor holding someone. Is that.... Ryuko? What's she doing here?
The sound of sirens grow louder meaning the police are on their way. When they get here, I tell them what I found when I first arrived. Leaving them to arrest the unconscious man, I move next to Ryuko. Seeing her cry makes my heart ache though I don't know why.
Placing my hand on her shoulder I muster the courage to speak. "Hey, don't cry. You're gonna be okay." I wasn't prepared when she looked up at me with surprise and sorrow on her face.
I need to remain professional. "Tatsuma-san I need you to let go of your friend. The paramedics and police need her for their investigation."
I watch as she reluctantly let's the paramedics carry her friend away. I can't watch her suffer like this. I need to do something. "Kamihara-san, please don't go." Ryuko says in a pleading tone of voice.
I felt the urge to stay and comfort her. Giving in, I crouch down and give her a hug even though I rarely do that. "I won't ever leave. I promise." It felt like the right thing to say and I intend to keep this promise. I won't leave you, ever.
