At random times, you get bored.

Maybe in the middle of the night,
when you’re waiting for your eyes to realize
that it’s already 2 am and that you need to sleep.
But you’re just lying there,
trying to think yet ending up with an empty mind.
Just when you think you can at last sleep
For less and less thoughts enter your mind,
you remember.

You remember the people who once played a big part of your life.
You remember them being a part of your everyday life.
You remember waking up in the morning not needing an alarm and wake up from their calls.
You remember waking up with their “good morning” greetings and how with full enthusiasm they tell you to enjoy the rest of the day.
You remember hearing their electronic converted voices over the phone reminding you to eat your breakfast.
You remember ending the day with their voices as well.
You remember the calls that asks if you’re done with your dinner every night.
You remember them scolding you for being awake at 11pm.
You remember them reminding you to lock your doors before going to bed.
You remember them telling you “good night” and “I love you”
And how these words were all you need to feel secured.

You also remember the few times you get to see them.
You remember the excitement you feel counting the days as they fast approaches.
You remember how your bed is too small to fit.
You remember not caring if you sleep on the floor just to be beside them.
You remember the tight hugs.
You remember the good night kisses.
You remember the late night talks, of how bright tomorrow will be for you and them.
You remember how you plan your life 5 years from now.
You remember being successful with them beside you.
You remember the silhouette smiles that glow out of excitement on those nights.
You remember their laughter as it blends with yours as you tickle them from the sides.
You remember sleeping on their arms and waking up with the fresh aroma of breakfast.
You remember going out with them.
You remember their sympathetic eyes as they see you hurt
You remember not being hurt because you see them by your side.

But...

You also remember the nights you don’t pick their calls
You remember the reason is because you don’t want them to know
You don’t want them to worry why you’re still awake at 1am.
You remember the times that you’ve taken them for granted.

You remember your regrets.
You remember your longing.
You remember missing.

They say that memories makes human immortal
And of all those that you remember, might as be just 17% of a whole
Are they enough to keep them alive forever?
