Amy's alarm went off at 6am as usual. She got up and got dressed. She found her older sister Lou in the kitchen making breakfast. Amy took a piece of toast off the counter and put on her boots before walking out into the warm summer air. In the barn she found Ty, heartland's 18 year old stable hand and Amy's best friend, mixing the feeds in the tack room. They took the feeds to the horses and started the mucking out. Once she was done, Amy went to find Ty. "I was thinking we could give Spartan a bath" She said when she found him. "Good idea" Ty said. They tied Spartan up outside and got the hoses. When they were washing Spartan's legs, Ty flicked the hose towards Amy. She looked up and shook her wet hair out of her face. She lifted the hose and put it near his face. He jumped back and started running. Amy chased him, still splashing Ty with the hose. They kept running until Amy tripped over a rock. She fell into Ty, knocking him over too. They both lay on the floor laughing until Ty turned his head to kiss Amy. Amy's head told her to think carefully about what she was doing but her heart told her to kiss back. Her heart took over and she kissed him back. They got up and Amy found she was blushing. She kept her head down so Ty wouldn't see. They kept washing Spartan but Ty couldn't think of anything else but the kiss. Now he was sure he had feelings for Amy but did Amy feel the same?. Amy also couldn't think of anything else. Her and Ty had been best friends for a while and she felt she could tell him anything.
The day went on with everybody getting on with their usual chores. Amy and Ty weren't alone together until they were doing the final check of all the horses in the evening. "Um..Amy, I was wondering if you would like to go for a picnic or something tomorrow?" Said Ty. "What? Like a date?" She says. "If that's what you want to call it. Then I'm completely fine with calling it that." Ty says. They laugh and turn their separate ways.
