Elizas POV
Elizas POV 'Crime scene do not cross' The horrid yellow tapes put around the crime scene read. I stared at the tapes, lost in the reality of a departed loved one. My body still numb, my heart wasn't believing she was gone, Karen was gone forever, never to come back again. Tears stream down my face as I close my eyes and her smiling face is all I remember. Nuzzling close to Hayden's neck, I sob harder. Hayden's arms wrapped around my cold body as she pats my head. The detective walks towards us and the police guard who called them.
'She's the one that found the body, we haven't questioned her yet she seems devastated' I heard him say to the police officer in a soft yet loud whisper. He simply nods his head as he heads towards us.
'Hi, My name is Wilden, I will be the police officer in charge of Miss Karens' case. I had some-' He stops midway as I sob harder at the sound of her name.
'Maybe now is not a great time' Hayden tells him.
' I realize that, but I am going to have to call you ladies down later to the precinct'
' We will appreciate that Mr. Wilden'
'Yes, and may I get your names?'
'Hayden and Eliza'
'I'm going to need your full names ma'am"
'Hayden Smith and Eliza Rake'
'Hayden Smith and Eliza Rake' He repeats as he jots it down onto his clipboard. With a small nod and smile, he walks away.
Just then a stretcher comes out with Karens' lifeless body laid across it. The white sheets stained red from the blood. My heart cracks at the sight and I hear a scream from across the hallway. There she was, Karens' best friend, Mariah, leaning against the wall with tears streaming down her face like a waterfall. I run towards her and hug her with all my might as we sob into each other's arms. And it's just silence, a comforting silence.
