Shawn can feel his heart breaking, it's shattering into a million pieces. The feeling is overwhelming, it's all-consuming, and he feels like he can't breathe. He stumbles blindly out of the apartment that he shares with his fiancé, Taylor.

What he just witnessed is something that no one should have to witness. He's frantically pressing the button for the elevator, he doesn't want to be there a second longer than he needs too.

As he steps into the elevator he hears the faint yelling and the pounding footsteps of his fiancé running after him.

He tries to wipe the tears from his eyes but more fall. He doesn't know where he's going to go, his family lives so far away, but he has to, there's no other choice.

He quickly makes it to his car and as he drives away he can see Taylor burst through the elevator, but he's too late, Shawn is gone.

He drives for a while, unsure of where he's going to go. He gave up everything for Taylor and now he feels like he has nothing and nowhere to go.

He hesitates before he pulls out his phone and dials the number he knows by heart with trembling fingers and prays that the number still belongs to his ex best friend.

"Hello?"

A familiar voice speaks and Shawn squeezes his eyes shut. Regret floods his body and he lets out a shaky breath. He stops the assault of memories before he speaks.

"N-Nash? Taylor cheated o-on me with M-Matt," he chokes out and he wipes hurt, angry tears from his eyes.

He hears rustling on the other end.

"It's Shawn..." Nash mumurs to someone and he waits with bated breath.

"Where are you?" Nash asks and Shawn lets out a choked sob of relief, he was so scared that Nash might reject him because they didn't part on the best terms and it was mainly because of Taylor.

"I'm at Fairmount Park," he whispers and he sniffles as the tears continue to fall, he wipes his eyes with the cuff of his jacket.

"I'm on my way, Shawn. Stay there, okay? Don't move." The concern is apparent in Nash's voice.

"O-okay," Shawn whispers and then he hangs up. The tears still continue to fall, Shawn numbly stares ahead as he waits for his former best friend to arrive.

Shawn tries not to think of the past and where he went so wrong, but memories flood back and he can't stop them.

He and his best friend Nash knew each other since kindergarten, their families were close and in turn the boys grew close as well. Shawn had always been a naive, sensitive soul and once they reached high school Nash protected Shawn from bullies.

But then they graduated from high school, and even though they attended the same college the two friends settled into different social groups. They remained roommates and that allowed them to remain best friends until Shawn met Taylor.

At first Nash was neutral about Taylor's presence in his best friend's life but there was something about him that rubbed Nash the wrong way. He began to talk to Shawn about backing off on the relationship with Taylor, Shawn listened to him at first but Taylor didn't go easily.

He came on twice as strong and made Shawn fall madly in love with him. Shawn had always craved attention, past boyfriend's had gone as far as calling him clingy and would break up with him because of it.

But Taylor was different, he showered Shawn with all of the attention he craved and more. Taylor knew what he was doing and he wanted Shawn; he wanted his innocence, his trusting naivete and his wholesome, pure love.
