I walked in to the dimly lit, white tile floored room for the fifth time this week. My obnoxious classmates verbally fought about something to do with the fake cheese in the cafeteria while I sat my things down underneath my desk.
Sitting in a chair in front of me and to my right was Tyler. Tyler was far from your run-of-the-mill high school sophomore.
Think of a 16 year old boy that plays video games all the time, is incredibly lazy but in good shape; muscular. Someone rude, inconsiderate and someone that doesn't care about school. Thats the exact opposite of Tyler. He's a drama kid. He sings and dances, has no problem being who he is. He's endlessly sweet and funny. He has this all-around, genuine hilarity to him that just sparks something in my heart. I love it.
Today, he seems to be in an incredibly cheery mood. I lean foward slightly to listen in on his conversation.
"I'm just so excited for tonight. It's gonna be so good." He babbled on. 'What's happening tonight?' I thought. 'Why is he so exci- Oh! The school wide musical.' I remembered. He hadn't stopped talking about the premiere being tonight for the last two weeks, how could I have forgotten?
I looked to the back corner of the room where Harlee and Reilly sat. Sometimes Tyler would sit back there as well so I made a habit of checking for empty seats near there.
I looked at the people residing in that corner and I saw Reilly motioning for me to sit in the vacant seat next to her. I nodded and rose from my chair. I swung my bookbag over my shoulder and trekked to my new seat for the day.
When I sat down Reilly was already distracted, once again, by Daniel. After years of being hopelessly in love with him, she asked him out. He said no. So, being the persistent piece of shit she is, she asked him out again a month later. He said yes that time. It's been a year and a half since and they seem like they're going strong.
"Oh, hey!" She said to me, finally being aware of something other than her brown eyed beau. "So I wanted to suggest something."
"Okay..." I stated slowly, being cognizant of the outrageous things she sometimes suggests.
"Well you know how the Sadie Hawkins is next Friday?" She grinned widely.
"Oh, god. No. I won't do it." Knowing what was coming, I groaned.
"Come on. All you have to do is go up to him and say 'hey so... Sadie Hawkins?' Come on its that easy." She continued to advocate her idea in front of Daniel and Harlee. "Daniel and Harlee both said they think you should do it too."
"Ok. Fine. After the show tonight. We'll find him and I'll ask." I conceded.
"Yay!" She clapped her hands. "I'm so excited!"
"I hope he says yes.." I mumbled.
"Oh, shut up, he will." She assured. I just nodded, unsure of what on earth I thought I was doing.

Soon enough, Harlee, Daniel, Reilly and I all showed up at the PAC and walked inside together. After buying our tickets, the four of us started to walk into the house.
"I'm gonna wait out here for Kasen" Harlee said.
Kasen was Harlee's boyfriend. He was obnoxious if you ask me. But he was cute, I'll give her that much. He was tall with light brown hair and sparkling green eyes and his face was well defined. If I didn't know him, I'd love him. But he was just too much for me. He was fine when you fine when you first met him but when he gets comfortable around you, it's like the switch flips. He's loud, interrupting, inconsiderate. He was like Harlee but 1000x worse.
"I'll be in in a minute. Text me and tell me where you guys sit?" She asked. We nodded and continued inside.
"Hey, let's sit towards the front so chica puede ver a su hombre" Reilly said to Daniel. He looked back at me and chuckled then nodded his head.
Daniel walked to the second row and stopped at a seat in the middle, centering the group so all 5 of us would be in the middle. What a perfectionist. He's just like Reilly.
He finally picked a seat and sat, Reilly sitting next to him and me sitting next to her, saving seats for Harlee and Kasen.
"Hey, what did you say to Daniel earlier?" I asked Reilly as we sat and waited. She looked confused for a second and then looked at me and laughed lightly.
"Oh, I just told him to sit near the front so you could see your man." She replied.
"I wish he was my man" I replied.
"He will be, don't worry."
