Trapped In my own mind.

Chapter 2

I hopped in the Volkswagen and sat in silence. The smell of worn out leather began to bug me.

"So where to?" He asked.

To be honest I didn't even know.

"Um.. how about Bakersfield?"I replied.

"Your kidding right" he said in a frown.

"No I am not."

"I'm not driving 2 hours away"

My heart sank. This was suppose to be my adventure, I didn't care how far it was I just needed to spend at least 2 hours in this van.

"Okay fine. I'll take you to Bakersfield" he groaned.

He must have read my mind or something.

"Thank you" I smiled.

We sat in silence for about 4 minutes.

"So.. What's your name?" I Asked breaking the silence.

"Twan Maris" he said firmly.

"Oh, that's a cool name" I replied .

"Yeah I guess, what about you?" He asked,taking out his cigar.

"Aspen Reed"I said coldly.

"Aspen Reed.." he repeated "we have pretty cool names" he laughed.

"Yeah" I smiled. I have a billion things I would like to say. But only one pops out.

"Twan, why are you taking a complete stranger to Bakersfield, California on a Saturday morning?" I ask.

He didn't reply. He rolled down our windows and turned up the radio.

"So,Aspen. Tell me about yourself?" Twan said.

"Uhh. Well my eyes are different colors, Im deeply afraid of pencils. uh.. oh and I like to write." I said.

He stared at me locking his hazel green eyes to my blue and grey ones. He didn't reply, like always. I let my golden, blonde hair down and stared out the window.

"So what do you write about?" He asked about 2 minutes later. I'm not sure if this was some game or not but I'm going to play.

"I don't know" was all I could say because I really did not know. Truth is I like to write but I don't actually write. I get caught up in so much ideas but I never have anything to write about. That's why I hopped in this van in the first place. I didn't tell him all this because he'd turn around and take me back home. So I just went with that and we continued the conversation.
