Fisher.

That's his name.
He showed up and I made everything a little better.

Ok, let me explain.
But I'm gonna have to start at page one.

I was eight, living with a drunk at a sea shore town.
Dad was at the pub again, drinking with the guys and getting in fights.
While I was working on fishing up something for dinner.
I only caught one and that was that.
I packed up my things and started home.
On the way I found a struggling kitten getting harassed by the children of the street, and me being me, I kicked 'em off and picked up the kitten, eyes filled with sarrow and worried, its gaze landed on my pity filled, copper, eyes. And with one meek cry, that was it.
I took them home and cleaned 'em along with the fish.
Feed, dried, and snuggled them.
But right as I went to start up dinner, I heard my dad burst in.

"DALYLA!!!! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU GIRL?!?"

Tears brimmed my eyes as I ran and hid under my bed with the cat.

Just as he opened his mouth to meow I hushed him, telling him to quiet, and he nodded as though he understood.

"GIRL!!! GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE!!!!!"

He banged his feet up the stairs and into my room, pulling me out from under the bed, holding me by my hair.

"WHERE IS DINNER?!?"

"I-I was just sta-starting!!"

I cried, as I struggled under his grip.

"OH SHUT IT!!!!!"

He throws my young figure to the wall as he started to leave.

"You get a pass tonight, but you better be on it tomorrow. Now you have to stay in here for the night."

He boomed as he shut my door and locked it, me on the other side, screaming and crying for him to open the door but he never did.

I threw my myself on my bed, the new found pain in my shoulder increasing.

"Meew..?"

I look down seeing the same kitten.

"Let's get out of here."

I pick up the small kitten and start climbing out my window, which I've done thousands of times now, but then. It was probably only my tenth time.

I did mange to get down.. by missing the last step but still!! Got down.

We wondered to the beach.
I sat on the shore, rambling on about my life when I heard the kitten yelp.
I whipped my head around seeing a ginger haired boy in the shrubs.

I shreaked and started continuously asking where the kitten was and he just simply replied he was him then turned back into a cat.

We had a small conversation and it ended with, he would stay with me and we would leave as soon as we can.

A year later and we're at that same spot. Me in a yellow sun dress and him in a shirt with shorts.
I had a messenger bag and he had a pack with a satchel around his waste.
My dad thought I went out for fishing but little does he know I'm leaving for good.

We started our trek doen the sandy beach, talking about where we we're gonna go and the this we're gonna do.
We laughed about jokes and sang songs, laughing at the moon's night lit face. Wondering if it was really watching us or something else.

Maybe two days later we came across a town.
We looked at each other, eyes lighting up.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?!"

I cheer, thinking about a nice warm breakfast instead of boring, cold, cook cod.

"Yeah!!"

"A nice warm bed and breakfast!!"

We both laughed, commenting that both thoughts were good and important.
So we started off for the nearest tavern, looking around at the village. There's kids chasing chickens and people laughing as they walk.
We came across a market, thinking we should stop before continuing to the tavern.

Fisher asked for the money we took from my father.
He ran to a stand selling knives and such, picking up a small dagger and a thin sword.
He attached the sword holster to his waste and gave the dagger to me.
I nodded, knowing his thoughts.
We continued to walk, asking a couple about the tavern.

"It's right around the corner kids."

"Thank you!!"

With excited smiles, we ran around the corner and into the tavern, sitting down on the bar stools.
"What can I get you two..?"
The bar-keep started to get an unsettling look on her face after seeing my face.
"Uhhh... eggs and bacon!"
Fisher didn't seem concerned at all, his thoughts were focused on the food, though he liked fish he just wanted something different for once.
"And for you?"
I locked eyes with bar-keep, asking for the same as Fisher.

As she walked away I turned to Fisher, but before I could even say a thing, he spoke.
"We need to get out of here Dalyla."
His voice was in a calm and hush manner, as he pulled my gaze to the wall.
There were letters about me..
My dad must have already worked on tracking me down.
I shot my gaze back to Fisher.
He nodded to the back door, I tilted my head in a confused manner.
He just looked forward and watched as bar keep cane back.
"Here ya go-"
Fisher knocked our plates off the counter and pulled me out the back door.
As we ran down the streets, we heard a loud ruckus coming from the tavern.

We ran back to the beach and kept running till our legs couldn't keep up with us.
We fell to the ground. I looked deep into the ocean, knee to my chest and my mind racing.
Fisher started chuckling, emerald green eyes on the skys, one hand running through his hair and the other propping him up.

"We can't even go anywhere without someone noticing you.. why does the old basterd want you around anyway?!"
He chuckles, eyes turning to me at the end of his sentence.
I locked eyes with him, just as me, his eyes showed his worries.
I held my knees to my chest, returning my gaze back to the sea.
"He wants to ruin my life..."
His gaze shifted to me as he sat up.
".. when my mom died in the running plague, he saw her in me.. it started as yelling, then breaking things, then.. th-then..."
My quiet whispers turned into meek sobbing as I buried my head in my knees, my brown hair covering my shoulders.
A hand fell to my shoulder, brushing my hair out of my face.
"We left, he can't hurt you anymore.. and if he shows..."
He pauses.
He turns his head to the ocean as he stands, hand extended to my figure.
A hopeful smile falls on his lips as he starts to speak.
".. I'll protect you!! And I swear on the stars that I'll never let you get hurt!!"

I gently put my hand in his.
He pulled me up and threw an arm around my shoulder as mine went over to his.

"I promise..
I'll protect you..."
