It should've been me...

I should've taken the midnight shift, I could've handled anything the night threw at me.

But she offered to take my shift, she said I looked tired. She was right, I haven't slept for the last few days. I only have myself to blame for that.

I remember her soft hand on my shoulder, reassuring me she would come back alright. Still, my gut was telling me otherwise. The feeling of an invisible hand twisting my guts as the nerves grew.

She knew how much I worried about her, yet I couldn't pull myself to tell her. I just stayed silent.

As she walked to the door, she turned to me with a soft smile, her emerald eyes meeting mine. She waved softly as she opened the door to leave.

I watched as she disappeared into the dead of night, her figure fading as she got further and further away from view, only to find her the next morning, motionless and unresponsive.

I should've done something..
I should've just told her..

"Don't Go,Trix..".
