I sighed as I stared at myself in the mirror, my top off. I carefully caressed the slightly stinging and burning pain on my shoulder. It had gotten worse ever since we went back to school. Baring the pain while being with the others was hell. The pain made me want to cry and stab it with something sharp again and again till I couldn't feel anything. I didn't think twice before gripping onto it as I started sobbing quietly, small whimpers leaving my mouth as the pain increased. The pain was satisfaction to me. I closed my eyes and gripped onto it harder than before. I bit my lips to prevent any sound coming out from it. I was too immersed in the pain that I didn't notice the red liquid flowing down my shoulder. I was brought back to reality when someone knocked on the door.

“Your father is going to reach soon. He said he has news for us.” I hummed and waited for her to go back downstairs. I sighed and looked back at the mirror. I flinched when I saw the blood on my shoulder. I shouldn't have done it too hard. I grabbed a tissue and started wiping it clean. After making sure that it didn't drip on the floor, I took a closer look at it. The wound had gotten bright red, which used to be dark, like a maroon colour. The pain was also gone. I put my shirt back on and walked to my door, unlocking it. Maybe doing that wasn't so bad. I should do it if it ever comes back again. I thought as I made my way down the stairs.

“You seem a bit down. Is something wrong?” Youngbin asked as we walked to school the following day. I hummed a ‘yes’ and he let out a sigh. “I've known you for 16 years so I know it when you're lying.” “Fine. I'm just upset.” “Upset about?” “Dad.” “Why? It's not like he used to be with us the whole time.” “But, knowing that he was around Korea, although working day and night, I felt more satisfied. Now that he's out of Korea, I don't feel really good. It's lonely, I mean, lonelier than the days when he isn't home, but is still—” “—in Korea. Yeah, I get you. Don't worry, I'm here. You just have to come to my room if you want to get annoyed.” I snickered and punched his arm. “You really need to stop doing that.” “I'm not planning to.”

Jake was standing just outside the gate when we reached. “Hey Jaeyun, I'll give you something for free.” He turned to us. “Hm?” Youngbin suddenly pushed me onto him, catching me off guard. “What the hell, Youngbin?!” Jake caught me as I directly hugged him. “That's for being annoying on the way here.” He looked at Jake. “You said that you wanted a sister. Congratulations, Youngjae is officially your sister now—” “Shut up, Youngbin!” Jake chuckled. “Not a problem.” “Yeah, there shouldn't be any problem because I gave you her for free. You might as well change her name to Shim Youngjae.” I rolled my eyes. Jake looked at me and ruffled my hair. “I'm your new brother, kiddo.” I whined and complained. Youngbin was busy laughing when Jake whispered to me. “This is actually a good idea. We can act in any way we want to without the others having to think any other thoughts.” I slowly nodded, slightly smirking.

Heeseung slowly approached the scene. He eyed us in confusion. “Oh, hey Heeseung. Youngjae is Jake's new sister.” I pursed my lips and stuck out my tongue at him. “Hey! I'm still your elder brother! Show some respect!” “Says the one who came up with changing my name from Lee Youngjae to Shim Youngjae. Sorry Youngbin, but I'm Shim Youngjae now—” “You little—” Jake directly back hugged me. “Don't come near her.” He spoke with a big smile on his face, making Youngbin flustered. “I shouldn't have done that in the first place.” Heeseung walked to him and patted his shoulder. “I'm sure this will end soon. Let's go to class.” “I'm still your elder brother, Youngjae!” I giggled. Everything became quiet as they both disappeared inside the school building. Jake turned me around and pecked my lips. “Stop doing that— why do you have to target a new and inappropriate part every time?!” He just chuckled and dragged me inside the school as well.

“Do you smell that?” Heeseung asked as he walked down the stairs, wearing his bathrobe. He had just finished cleaning up. His mother looked up. “No. What is it?” “It's a faint smell of blood. Can't you smell it too?” She gave him a small smile. “Maybe your human soulmate is bleeding.” “Human soulmate...why not someone like us?” She let out a breath and looked down at the book she was reading. “Nothing can stop fate. If you're supposed to fall in love with a human, you can't help but fall for them and end up with them for the rest of your lives.” Heeseung stood there, not knowing on how to comment what his mother had just said. He slowly walked back up to his room. If I can smell her blood, that probably means I have bitten her before. And Youngjae is the only human I had bitten, so far. He sighed out. Well that makes sense to why I always feel envious when she's with Jake. I wonder what she's doing to make herself bleed.

He stared in confusion as he saw Youngjae in a good mood the next day. He was silently chuckling, enjoying the scene in front him until Jake wrapped his arms around her waist, holding onto her tightly from behind, a bright smile on his face. Heeseung could imagine himself being in Jake's shoes. He was once again, jealous. Youngjae always looked so happy when she was around Jake, but it was the complete opposite when she was around him. He shook away his thoughts and walked to the salty Youngbin. Youngbin spoke up as soon as they walked inside. “Right, I have to go to the office. Do you want to come along?” He thought for a moment then shook his head. “I'll be fine waiting for you here.” “Alright, if you say so.” Youngbin was a few metres away when Heeseung noticed the couple, still outside the school building. Jake pressed his lips onto hers, making Heeseung quickly turn his head to Youngbin. “Wait up, I changed my mind!”

“What did you do back there?” Heeseung asked as they started walking towards their class. “With Youngjae and Jake? Nothing serious. We were just playing around, like old times.” He chuckled. Old time, huh? “You seem to be closer with Jake than I expected.” “I told you. It's like I've known him ever since he was born. He's like a brother to me. If he ends up marrying my sister, I won't have any problem with it because I really do want him to be my brother-in-law.” He continued to chuckle. “But it's sad that he's really quiet when I'm around. It shows that he's still scared of me. You know, he refused to say ‘hello’ to me when Youngjae first brought him over to me. I wonder what makes him scared. Do I look that scary to you?” He looked at Heeseung and he directly shook his head. “I mean, you do look like you're ready to fight anyone who messes with you and your closed ones. But you don't really look like that type when you start talking. You are...soft.” “Ah— that's going to make me blush.” Heeseung chuckled.
