~Rose~

It's been a couple of weeks since everything happened. And Tyler has been doing a good job so far. We have meetings weekly with the department heads to make sure everything is running smoothly.

We had to postpone the barbecue due to a lack of planning. I have an appointment with Mrs. Lambert about getting it started. Hopefully, it will happen soon because the weather is getting colder here, and the sun isn't helping.

I walk into Tyler's office to set up the day before he gets in. I come to work approximately twenty minutes before him to get his schedule for the day and make sure that everything is in place.

There hasn't been anymore kissing or anything romantic going on. Unless sneaking glances at each other. I caught Tyler looking at me a couple of times, but I've done the same. It seems like he wants to ask me something but doesn't have the right words.

Jay came by once since our horrible date happened. He apologized and but he wants to stay friends. I agreed, but I've been going back to his aunt's book store once a week. It brings me a sense of peace. I haven't told Lissa about the store; she thinks that I'm seeing someone. I see the hope in her eyes every time I go out.

After what happened with Rick two years ago, I haven't found anyone, and I'm not looking. I got a reality check when I saw Rick and my cousin at a family dinner before the wedding.

Walking over to the window, I look over the skyline.

~flashback~

I followed them because something was off. Rick and my cousin went into a room, and then the next thing I know, they're taking off each other's clothes. The morons didn't even shut the door all the way.

"We have to hurry," Rick said.

"Are you still going to marry Rose?"

Before he had a chance to respond, I stepped in and said, "No, but I hope you too are happy together because once a cheater, always a cheater." I took off my ring and threw it at him.

Hurt, rage, and sadness are the things that I feel. I went back to the family room and saw everyone is happy and carefree. My mom saw me first coming down the stairs, and I couldn't take it.

"Rosie, what's wrong?"

"Rick and I are over. I caught him cheating, and I'm pretty sure it's not the first time." I laughed without any humor. Holding back to tears, I looked around the room and saw all different kinds of emotions: rage, pity, sadness, and shocked faces all staring at me.
