My Coach

1. Stay

[Dana's POV]

I shrugged as I found my fingers shaking after typing the words "Coach, Im feeling a little unwell, can I be exempted from training today?" . It was true, my head was spinning and my body felt weak. I just wanted school to end and go home to rest on my soft comfy bed.

A few minutes later, I felt my pocket vibrate and fished out my phone to check. Faizah, my close friend was laughing away and was anticipating the reply of my coach just as much as me. We both stared at the cracked but still readable screen of my Iphone as I opened the text.  The text read, "No, stay and watch the training."I was suprised and annoyed, my heavy head wasn't helping. Our tournament isn't starting anytime soon, I didnt understand why I had to stay, I was clearly sick and needed rest.

I found myself staring at nothing while my teammates ran around following Coach's instructions. Net balls bouncing all over the place. There was nothing for me to do except to just sit there. It was useless.

After what felt like an eternity, training ended and I started packing my stuffs to leave when I felt a soft but firm tap on my shoulder. I turned my body all the way to face the figure that was standing infront of me. Muscular, slim and slender. It was Coach. I didnt have time to organise myself when she gripped my hands and pulled me to the side. I looked up at her face, which made me look like a little kid as she was way taller. I noticed her lips starting to move when I heard,

"Thank you. Thank you for staying to watch. Rest well and make sure I see you on the next training."

With that, she gave me a small smile as she turned her back on me and walked away. I felt a certain weirdness inside when I remember how sincere her face looked like when she said the words "Thank you" but i just brushed it out of my mind and went straight home.
