What A Wonderful World (Akaashi x Reader)

Day 0

Important: hey guys! I will be adding a song all the way up top (for example in this chapter it is "Out of my league - Fitz And The Tantrums") that really adds some scenery and emotion to the story. so please play it while reading or play it after for just that little extra magic. this will be extra important towards the end. enjoy! :)

It was a nice summer day as the wind was breezing through your H/C hair as you leaned right next to the open car window.  The Move had not been too hard on you. Fortunately you didn't had many friends in your hometown to begin with so that made  this all a little more bearable. It was rather refreshing to have a new change of scenery, you thought. 

"you still got some chips back there Y/N? pass me some please!" your dad spoke over the warm summer tunes of the radio playing in the background. a hand made its way towards you in a cupping position. you grabbed a handful of chips out of the bag that was sitting on your lap and placed it in his hand.

"thank you!" he spoke over the munching and crunching of the chips. You looked outside of the window once again, a genuine smile plastered on your face. you had always been the adventurous type, even though slightly introverted, that didn't stop you from looking for adventures. 

after a long but beautiful 2 hour trip the car came to a stop, right in front of your new house. you stepped out quickly and looked it over with wide eyes. the scenery... it was stunning. it was one of the things that was mostly important to you. 

"get a move on Y/N we ain't got all day ya know" your mom spoke with her signature accent. 

"r-right sorry!" you said as you immediately got hold of one of the boxes. 'ugh this one is heavy' you thought. In a slow step, you made your way to the front porch dragging the box up the small stairs. however, the moment you tried to walk in the door, your dad tried to walk out of it. this lead towards a collision and you tripped backwards off the stairs. at least that was what you were expecting to happen.

2 pretty sturdy hands got  a hold of your elbows as you held on to the box. confused of what happened, you looked behind you to see who you had to thank for this saving.  what you didn't expect however was your eyes to be met with gunmetal blue ones of someone you had never seen before.

behind you was now a boy, which you assumed was close to being the same age as you. messy black hair, the darkest blue orbs and the most gentle smile you had ever seen before. he was truly a stunning view....

"uhm.. sorry for the sudden catch, I was going to see if I could help out in any way..." he spoke in a soft voice

it was then that you realized how close your face was to his. you were basically leaning against him like a back of a chair. your face started flushing a slight red as you stood up on your own 2 feet again.

" I -- uh... Thank.. you uhh.."

"Akaashi, Keiji" he responded with the most innocent face. 

"well thank you for saving my daughter from a fall Akaashi.." your dad said as he took the box from you. 

"of course. I was wondering if I could help with anything?" 

"you sure son? I'd really appreciate. we have some boxes left in the trunk. if you could drop them right here at the doorstep that'd be amazing." 

"you got it sir."

you looked absolutely dumbfounded as Akaashi grabbed another box from the trunk. 

"Wait!" you said as you ran up to him to help him pick up the box even though he clearly didn't need any. 

"thank you Akaashi-san. for the save and all. you popped in at just the right time huh?"

"I was looking over from across the street and it seemed like you guys could use a hand. or two for that matter"

 You chuckled at his comment

"that must mean you are our neighbor then?"

"not really. I was visiting my best friend to practice some volleyball. I kind of spend most of my time there anyways so In a way you can call me a neighbor." 

you had to admit, you were slightly disappointed that he wasn't your real neighbor. he just seemed like a pretty swell guy to you. you used to have troubles talking to others but with him... It just went so smoothly and it was so easy.

"my name is L/N Y/N by the way"

"nice to meet you L/N-san" he said while dragging the box to the doorstep. you just watched him do it. he seemed to be handling the heavy boxes with such ease...
however, your thought process was quickly interrupted by a voice in the distance

"AKAAASHIII"  

Akaashi immediately turned around and so did You only to be met with a boy with black and white hair in the shape of an owl. 

"You were gone for sooo long!"

"I was helping this family with some boxes Bokuto-san"

"then why didn't you say so!" right after this the boy, that presumably was named Bokuto, grabbed one of the boxes from the trunk too and started to move them towards the doorstep just like Akaashi. 

"This is the friend I was talking about L/N-san" Akaashi said looking over at his friend and helping him with his box "careful Bokuto-san"

"Nice to meet you!" you said holding your hand up awkwardly

"Nice to meet you too!" he said as he placed the box down carefully. "so we are neighbors right? Do you like volleyball?" he immediately questioned.

"uhm.. I uh.. never gave it a try.." you stammered. you could tell that he was a lot more hyper than Akaashi. 

"You should! its a lot of fun you know? what school do you go too?" Bokuto asked excitedly. this felt more like a police interview than an introduction at this point.

"I signed up for eh... F-Fukurodani.."

"that's where we go to! what a coincidence!"

"I guess it is.." you said unsure of what to say next. you hadn't even paid attention on how fast the boys were working. they already moved all the boxes upfront and you... hadn't even done anything but stare at them. great first impression Y/N. 

"I guess we'll see you around then "L/N-san" Akaashi said softly.

"y-yeah.. t-thank you for all the help you two."

"no problemo!"  Bokuto said with a thumbs up "see ya at school L/N! " 

"y-yeah. see you around!" 

you watched them walk off. oblivious to the fact that you just had made your first 2 friends..

authors notes: hope you liked it so far! yes it may start a little slow. but every story starts with an introduction to the characters, to get that feel of attachment ya know.  but I'll make sure to switch to the action soon! anyways..
