A wandering spirit, unseen in the night, walks among the road with the people. Her hair is pure white, as well as her long dress. Her skin is a sickly, pale white. Although no one notices her, she stays among the people she once belonged with. Not one of the people walking can talk to her or notice her, yet the girl isn't lonely or sad.

This girl is Lumi, or Lumine, and she is a spirit who doesn't know why she was put on Earth. Never had met any other spirits, she was the only spirit she knew in the town. She resides in a small town, with many tall buildings and poles. She personally likes to sit on the poles and watch the stars fly by. She has always loved the night sky, and it's unique patterns of stars. She often felt as if she could reach out and grab one, but she never was able to.

Despite being a spirit, she still acted like a girl would. She often mocked people, purposely putting on odd faces. She also loved to scare people. All she would have to do is pick something up and go around someone, and all they would see was the floating object. She loved to see their panicking faces.

She often sneaked into the library to read books. She loved one book in particular, a picture book. It was about a cat and dog who became best friends. But in their town, cats and dogs were enemies. People tried to bring them apart, but they wouldn't. Eventually, the people gave up, and even brought cats and dogs together. Lumi admired the cat and dog for their bravery. She aspired to be like them someday.
But, even she knew doing something so helpful would be nearly impossible while a spirit. That was what she hated about it. She couldn't do anything to help anyone. All she could do was watch. Watch and wait.

"Someday," Lumi whispers to herself. "I want to find out why... why I'm here."
It had been her dream since she was put on Earth. Maybe, if she knew why she was here, she could go back. Perhaps, if she tried hard enough, her dream would come true.

But, somehow, she knew it wouldn't happen on it's own. A gut feeling, maybe? She wasn't sure.

She had often seen people throw coins into the fountain in the center of the town. She always heard them whisper a wish. One day, she decided she would try it. She found an old and dirty coin on the side of the road, and she decided to use it. At the fountain, she wished one thing, and one thing only.

"I wish I could be noticed."
