The system in front of me started ticking.. It said 'you can start your exam in 01.00 minute..
This was my last chance to prove that I am good enough for the career I was aspiring to. That 'countdown' took on my nerves. I wanna run out of that hall screaming "I can't , I can't .." but I know I can't say I can't.. It was truly a do or die moment..
When you're about to....
Everytime you set out for something, anything...and when you're about to begin.. u can feel the butterflies in your stomach. Whether it's appearing for an exam or just say, about to dance or sing or speak and especially if it's your maiden attempt, then that adrenaline rush is inevitable even if u have prepared a hell lot for it.. We see people doing para gliding ,bungee jumping.. but how do they deal that moment when they're about to??
This is the crucial moment that determines your upcoming performance.. You know your destiny is there far away.. waving at you.. It's definitely not about securing first but just the idea of finishing it in the first place. Singer who can't attempt even a single note, speaker who cannot spit a single word, dancer who cannot move a bit.. all have been made the greatest jokes every time everywhere. But these are all the consequences. My point is that golden moment of beginning. The moment we decide not to run but just face it.
So, I was thinking about how everyone dealt this situation? How they decide to do or die!!!??
I have read about closing our eyes, taking deep breaths and then slowly gathering the moment.. but sometimes it's not enough for me to hold myself together and do what am intended to. I start to worry about how other contenders prepare or present.. My mind starts to call me a loser.. for not having enough guts like them.
Deep Breaths always fail to gain sufficient confidence.. Mostly I recite prayers.. Coz I can't rely on my own.. sometimes I think of hiring somebody to cheer me up... sounds crazy but still a matter to consider just like in wrestling or football match where your coach stand beside u giving you the instructions.. The concept of 'cheer girls' in IPL matches may have derived from here.
It's true that at some point, you will have to be your own coach, your own 'cheer girl'.. Coz this moment is between you and yourself. Only if u succeed, you can get to go that extra mile.
Be the coach you wish you wanted...
Love,
Aiza Mian
