Sneaking out

The next morning mom's voice rang in my ears once again, "wake up. Time for school." I groan and sit up. Mom walks over to the bed and looks down at me, "can you please go to school today? At least half of the day." I nod, rubbing my eyes, "I'll go. I have another shift tonight after school so I might go straight to bed again." I look at her and she nods, while leaving the room, "okay. Be careful." I get up take a shower and do my usual outfit. Once done I run down the stairs and grab my bag. Mom waves to me and hands me money for breakfast and lunch. I walk out the door to the same cafe I go to every morning. I get my usual without the crescent and as I'm heading out Mal walks in. She looks at me and smiles, "you didn't come to school yesterday." She smirks, "were you boning that pirate?" I shake my head, "no. We just hung out." I step closer to her as she drops her smirk, "me and him are just friends. It's gonna stay that way." I back up, take a sip of my coffee, and leave. On the way to school I run into Gil and Harry. I smile at them both, "Gil! Little hook! What's up?" Me and Harry do our forearm bump and I fist bump Gil. I take another sip of coffee and Harry takes it to get a sip. He hands it back to me, "are you goin to school today?" I nod, "don't want to piss my mom off too much." I start walking as Gil and Harry come on either side of me. I take another long sip of coffee, "are you guys going to Uma's party tonight?" Harry smiles, "you know it." Gil agrees and we all bump into Uma while approaching the school. I give her our own made up handshake and hand her my coffee, "hey cus." Uma takes a sip and hands it back, "hey. You going to school today?" I nod, "yeah I figured I'd go to keep mom off my back so I can sneak out." Uma raises an eyebrow, "so you are going?" I smile, "well duh. I sneak out all the time." We all start walking again with Gil and Uma on one side of me and Harry on the other. Harry smirks, "I'm usually the one who helps sneak her out. I'm also the reason why she sneaks out usually." Uma giggles slightly, "you guys sound just like a couple." "Not gonna happen!" I yell out. I look at Harry and then back to Uma and Gil, "we're just friends." Uma takes another sip of my coffee, "well either way little hook can go sneak you out and the four of us can set up." I take my coffee back , "speaking of which, how late is my shift tonight?" Uma looks over at me, "until closing, is that okay?" I nod, "yeah that's fine, I figured that would be the time I get off."

After school I walk with Uma to the restaurant and we both clock in and help with each other's aprons. Harry rounded up the rest of the crew and they all came in and sat down to watch the news and hangout. They did this everyday while Uma and I worked. I smiled to them, "hi, what can I get ya?" Harry looks from the tv over to me, "my usual." I sigh, "okay, Gil?" Gil turns his gaze to look me in the eye, "fish platter. You know the sides." I nod, smiling, "I do. Fries and hush puppies." Uma and I meet in the middle of the large order and we both send the orders back to the kitchen. I wait the right side of the restaurant while Uma takes the left. We go through the whole shift together and clean up. I throw my apron on the hook and clock out. I grab my bag from behind the counter and wave to Uma, "I'm gonna go home and wash up. See ya." Uma waves back, "see ya." I leave out and start home. Harry walks me home, but stops a block away. He sighs, "I can't go any further, but I'll see you tonight." I look towards my apartment, "I know, but maybe she'll warmup to you someday." I start laughing, "then again, maybe not." I start walking and wave back to him, "see you later little hook." Harry smiles, "see ya later." I walked the rest of the way home. It was late, but I was gonna wash up, go to bed and sneak out in around an hour so it was fine. I walked through the front door and see mom standing there. She smiles, "you went to school today, you must be tired. That and work wore my darling out." I nod and throw my bag down and kick my shoes off, "yeah. I'm gonna wash up a bit and go to bed." Mom pulls me in for a hug, "okay sweetie." She kisses the top of my head and I start walking up the stairs to my room. I grab some clothes and wash off a bit, getting the restaurant smell off of me. Once done I get dressed and wait for Harry. He texts and says he's a block away. I open my window and climb out onto the small ledge under it where some dead plants in pots were. I slid down the gutter post and dropped onto the sidewalk and started walking towards where I saw Harry under the dim light of the street light. He was leaned up against the wall. I smiled as I met up with him, "ready?" He turns to me and pushes off the wall, sticking his elbow out for me to take, "yeah, let's go." I take it and we walk to Uma's pirate ship. As we draw close, we break apart from each other and enter the ship.
