"You're supporting this?" Jasper whispered lowly in Dorothea's ear, careful to keep their conversation private, not wanting their vampire siblings to overhear. Dorothea looked up at him, trying to gauge his reaction, searching for any sign of anger or disappointment. But Jasper's face remained neutral, his expression unreadable. His hand brushed against hers, a subtle reassurance in the midst of the growing tension between them.
"Not entirely. I'm not sure, but I can't stand seeing him so...sad and dull." Dorothea's voice was soft, though her words held conviction. She wasn't fully on board with the decision but couldn't ignore the pang of sympathy she felt for Edward, who was constantly battling with himself and the world around him.
Jasper let out a sigh, his gaze flickering toward Edward. The sight of his brother inadvertently glancing at his five inhumanly beautiful siblings, who stood at their table, waiting expectantly, made something tighten in Jasper's chest. He could feel the weight of their eyes, the pressure of their expectations.
"I'm not mad," Jasper muttered, his voice low and controlled, "but if this ends badly, which we both know it will..." He paused, the irritation in his tone evident as he let out a deep, frustrated breath. "I guess there's no choice but a fight."
Dorothea leaned in closer, her hand instinctively finding his. "Don't say that. I'll find a way. It might interfere with the future, but I'll find a way."
"Don't push yourself too hard, love," Jasper replied, his voice filled with concern.

Later that day, the sun shone brightly outside, too brightly for the Cullens to leave their house. The family had crammed themselves into the living room, each of them engaging in their usual activities. Emmett, who had been watching a fishing channel, casually volunteered an idea. "You know, we should consider going fishing."
Rosalie and Alice groaned in disapproval at the suggestion. The idea of being stuck at a lake with nothing to entertain them didn't sit well with either of them. They preferred their usual form of excitement, which was far more high-energy.
Carlisle chuckled, his warm presence ever the calming force. "Next time, if you want, Emmett," he said lightly, sitting back on the sofa as Emmett eagerly continued to ask if he could adopt a pet fish.
Dean and Edward were deeply immersed in their chess game, but Dean's focus wasn't entirely on the board. If he wanted to outwit Edward, he had to keep his mind a fortress, carefully blocking any chance of Edward reading his thoughts. Across the room, Alice, Rosalie, and Esme flipped through fashion magazines, laughing and debating the latest trends, their conversation a mix of fashion critique and light-hearted banter.
At the far end of the couch, Dorothea and Jasper were in their own world. Dorothea nestled against his chest, her head resting on his shoulder as Jasper gently trapped her in his arms. She tugged at his hand playfully as he absentmindedly doodled on her palm, declaring that if her "art" didn't last the week, it would mean he didn't love her.
