You find yourself once again frustrated with your boyfriend Kuroo. Why may you ask? Because Tetsurou Kuroo is a manipulative piece of shit.
You shuffle to the end of the hall towards your honors chem class. The last class of the day, and then you are home free. You step into class and stroll to the back of the lab where you see one rooster haired bastard. He has his face buried in his phone, completely oblivious to your presence.
You sit down on the uncomfortable wooden stool that the school has provided for your ass. You place your bag next to your feet which are covered under the soft leather of your Mary Janes. The Nekoma student council required all students to wear uniforms. Stupid, you think to yourself. You glance over at Kuroo, observing him quietly. He has the sleeves of his uniform rolled up over his forearm, exposing a few veins. You trail your eyes up to his face taking in each and every one of his features. His sharp feline eyes, his black slicked back hair, his defined jawline. You quickly stop yourself from staring for too long and pull out your phone to scroll through Instagram.
A few more silent minutes pass by before the bell rings, and your chem professor steps to his desk. "Good afternoon," he speaks blandly. No response. Everyone is tired and ready to get the hell out of school. You glance around the classroom to see about half of your peers on their phones, and the other half with their heads down on the cool black tables. "Well don't all speak at once," he says. "Today we will be doing a lab over the colored fire we discussed on Thursday." That's right, you had totally forgotten today was Friday. You had been so caught up in all of your work, it had completely slipped your mind. "Alright, get with your lab partner and follow the directions on your tables."
You skim over your table to find the instructions for the rainbow fire. You look up at Kuroo, to immediately meet his amber eyes. "Alright what do we need to do?" he says briefly, then proceeds to snatch the instructions from your grasp. He skims the paper. It impresses you that Kuroo is shooting to be a chemistry major once he graduates from Nekoma. You would have figured he wanted to advance his volleyball career. With all his skill and power, he could easily make it to the pros.
"So how was your day Y/N?" He interrupts your thoughts. His comment caused suspicion. He never asks how your day is. He must want something...
"It was fine. I am ready to go home and relax for the weekend" you say.
"About that," he speaks.
"About what?"
"Could you drive Kenma home from practice today? I've got other places to be."
The audacity he has amused you. He doesn't treat you as his girlfriend but as a personal Uber. "What other places?" you annoyingly ask.
"Lev and some of the boys want to go out for a bit."
"Without Kenma?"
"He doesn't want to come along," Kuroo says as he stretches his long arms behind his head, revealing a small portion of his abs. As he does so he stares straight into your eyes. His golden glowing eyes linking with yours. He knows what he's doing. You break your eyes away from his, a soft pink spreading across your cheeks. "So, can you do it," he asks. "For me?" A very iconic and familiar grin spreads across his face. He knows exactly what to say to you."Yeah, I guess I could make a quick stop on the way back home." you say quietly.
"What was that?" he asks. He leans forward across the table, his lips inches away from your ear. You can feel his hot breath tickling your lobe.
"Y/N you're really gonna have to speak louder if you expect me to hear you." He places a quick kiss on your cheek. You can feel the toxicity from the kiss sink into your delicate skin. If you weren't already flustered enough before, you sure are now. You can feel the heat of your cheeks spread to the rest of your face when your eyes dart up to your professor glaring at you and Kuroo's table. Had he seen what Kuroo had just done? You break away from his stare, back to Kuroos eyes. "Alright let's get to work, shall we?" you speak, trying to ignore what he had just done. After a successful lab experiment with the rainbow fire, you are relieved when the bell finally rang. You pack up your things, and sling your bag over your shoulder. Not even a few seconds later you feel a familiar arm on top of your shoulders. You look to your left to see Kuroo grinning at you. "Cya chibi-chan," he says, sending a soft slap to your ass before walking out of the classroom. He is such a tease, and he knows it too. "Kuroo Tetsurou, what the hell am I going to do with you," you mutter to yourself as you grab your car keys out of your bag, and head out of class.
You walk towards the parking lot to find your old red Chevy. You don't really know a whole lot about cars, nor do you care. You hop into the driver's seat and settle down with your homework.
About two hours pass. As you are finishing the last of your homework, you poke your head up as you see the volleyball boys have finished practice. You see a large group of sweaty teens chatting and laughing outside the gym, with Kuroo and Kenma among them. You watch Kuroo from afar as he runs his fingers through his sweaty hair, pushing back some loose strands in the process. Wow, you think to yourself. How is it possible for someone to still look hot, even after working out for two hours?
Kenma gives the group a quick wave, and starts to stroll over to your car. He climbs into the passenger's seat, as you pack away your homework.
"Hey Kenma," you greet.
"Hi Y/N," he replies.
"How was practice?" you speak as you start the car, making your way over to Kenma's house.
"Good, we did some spiking and setting along with some 3v3's"
"Fun, fun. Where was Kuroo off to?"
"He and the rest of the team went off to grab some ramen."
"And you didn't want to go?"
"Eh, I have better things to do with my time."
"Like?"
"Go home and play Animal Crossing."
Now that you think about it, this is actually the first time you've seen Kenma without his Nintendo Switch on hand.
"Oh, gotcha."You finally arrive at Kenma's house and pull into the drive. He hops out of your car.
"Thank you so much Y/N," he says.
"Yeah no problem," you speak with a weary grin on your face.
He shuts the car door and walks up the steps, then disappears into his house. You sigh and close your eyes, leaning your head back onto the headrest. How did you go from long road trips with Kuroo, to taxiing Kenma back from volleyball practice. What happened to that? Where did it go? You back out of the driveway and start your journey back home.A little while later, you are laying on your bed watching your favorite movie. This movie makes you think of Kuroo. You remember the day he took you to see it in the theater. The genuine smile on his face, inked into your mind. No traces of manipulation whatsoever. Just, Kuroo. Now, only sly grins of mischief with trouble written all over them. What changed? You glance to your desk, where the plastic ring of a Ring Pop lays. You step over to the desk, and slide the Ring Pop onto your finger. You immediately start to tear up.
He gets down on one knee in front of the entire volleyball team, and pulls out a cherry flavored Ring Pop. He opens the wrapper, and holds it out to you, as if a wedding ring. "Y/N... Will you be my girlfriend?" Kuroo asks softly. A smile of pure bliss spreads across your face. "Yes, of course," you say quietly. He wraps his warm arms around your waist, pushing his cheek to your stomach. You gently entwine your fingering in his black locks, scratching his scalp. And at that moment, you felt as if you were floating.
You take the ring off and place it back onto your desk. Tears trailing down your cheeks, as you choke back a cry. The only thing you wanted right now was him. Kuroo. You know you shouldn't, because he probably isn't thinking about you. You ask yourself why you guys are even still boyfriend and girlfriend. For him it's probably just for status. But for you, it's because you're not willing to let him go. The thought of your life without him is unbearable. You know how poorly he treats you. How he manipulates you. How he plays you as a pawn in his game. So why are you still holding on? Is it the comfort of calling someone "yours"?
You shuffle back to your bed, crawling under the soft sheets. Your head is pounding from crying so much, causing you to become extremely tired. You sink your heavy head into the cotton of the pillow. Right as you are on the brink of sleep, you think to yourself, Kuroo Tetsurou, what the hell am I going to do with you.
