Some girls were rinding thee horses around the arena's, and others were barrel racing of jumping for fun. In the barn, is was warmer and quieter. Some of the older girls were grooming there horses, or feeding them. Other girls were chatting about what horse they wanted, or there past in riding. Jess was at OAK academy last year, so she already had a horse. Talon was a lovely, tall black Gelding. He had ripped muscles, and a silky coat. A loud nicker and bang made Jess and me turn our attention of a mahogany brown quarter horse. Obviously he had wanted attention, and now he had it.
"Who's that?" I asked Jess, walking over to him,
"Argh, that's Prince K, you don't want him, nobody likes Prince K, his a nuisance," Jess said.
I grabbed a few sugar cubes hanging from a little satchel on the railing, and held them out to the pen. His rubbery lips tickled my palm, but as soon as the food was gone, Prince K paid no attention to me.
"I just feel bad for whoever gets him," Jess mummers, smiling.
"I just hope I don't get him," I say.
"It's ok, his for the girl that got the scholarship, apparently she's quiet good," Jess flicked her curls over her shoulder, and walked back over to Talon. She gave him a kiss on the forehead, and cooed to him as she strode his gleaming coat. Obviously, Jess and Talon had a strong connection. I had bigger things to think about though. There must be a mistake because I couldn't be with Prince K. I had wanted a nice horse, something like Talon, just not a moody, stubborn horse like Prince.
"Jess," I said, my voice wobbling. "I'm the girl with the scholarship."
