Kageyama fell head over heels for the British girl in his class. She was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. Her name was Lyra. He loved everything about her. There was one problem though, he didn't know how to talk to her without getting tongue tied or becoming a blushing mess. He'd walk up to her and begin putty in his shoes once she was looking at him with her gorgeous chocolate colored eyes. "Uhh I-I. Well I just...umm Nevermind." His face would be as red as a beet and he'd at lost for words that he had previously planned and practiced to say. She was just amazing to him. Tsukishima would tease him about him not being able to talk to Lyra. She was just a girl in his class, no big deal. "Who knew the king would struggle so horribly with talking to girls?" The tall blonde snickered. "I can too talk to girls! Just not Lyra." Kageyama muttered the last part and stared down at the floor is defeat. The sound of his teammate's shoes on the gym floors made him pick up his head to avoid further embarrassment. "What's he crying about?" Hinata whispered to Yamaguchi. "He's crying because he can't talk to the British girl in his class." The greenette whispered back. "I AM NOT CRYING!! And her name is Lyra." Tsukishima was cracking up at his despair. Kageyama's simp was showing a little too much for Tsuki to keep from laughing at. "Just talk to her you Bakayama. Open your mouth and speak!" Clearly his friends didn't get the severity of the issue. If he didn't ask out Lyra, eventually another guy will. That guy that gets her will date her then soon propose to her, marry her and spend the rest of their live with her. Even having kids someday, maybe a family dog too. Kageyama wanted to be the guy to sweep her off her feet and give her the life she deserves. He had to be her Prince Charming or he'd die alone because Lyra was the only girl for him.
All during volleyball practice he was missing sets and was constantly getting hit with the ball. He was most definitely distracted. Kageyama was thinking of ways to ask Lyra out. Every scenario that played out in his head ended up with his making a fool of himself in front of her. He had to keep thinking of stuff to get her to be his. Failure was not an option for him. It would all be worth it in the end.
The next day Kageyama knew this was the day he'd do it. He was going to try to ask out Lyra. It was common knowledge she would stay after school to help teacher's grade assignments. Lyra was a kind and generous girl, Kageyama loved that about her as well. His plan was to 'accidentally' run into on the way out. He'd say he was sorry and offer to make it up to her then ask her on a date. Simple enough...maybe. There's so much that could go wrong, his timing could be off completely, he'd embarrass himself or she just wasn't into him. It was nerve racking to know that there was a possibility he was wasting his time but he'd increase his chances of success by just trying.
After practice was over Kageyama ran to the front of the school building to wait for Lyra. Once he could see her signature blue hair he made his move. The boy made his way over to her and lightly bumped into her. "Oh my gosh are you okay?" Lyra gave him a sweet smile when she looked up at him. "Yeah I'm fine. Thanks for asking. Most people would've just told me to watch it or just plainly ignored me." The two of them chuckled a bit at the situation. "Hey let me make it up to you by taking you out some time." Even though he couldn't see his face right now, by the way his cheek burned he knew he was blushing mega hard. "Yeah I'd love that a lot. Wanna walk home together?" She asked him. "Uhh yes. That would be great."
The sun was setting, it was a beautiful scene for the two. Lyra loved that time of the day, when the sun began going down. She says it a perfect mix of day and night. The air would be a bit chilly but the warmth of the sun would help with that. She also loved the look of the sky fading from something bright to dark. "Do you like me?" The very short girl suddenly asked. Kageyama was not expecting that kind of questioning. Does he lie now or tell the truth? She'd eventually find out if he ever got to take her on that date. It would be obvious at that point so there was no reason to lie. "Yes." He practically whispered. Rejection wasn't something Kageyama took lightly. When he was rejected by his middle school volleyball team, he lost himself in that bottomless hole. He felt not good enough whenever he was rejected so he praised himself for that experience. "So you like me?" He asked back. The word 'no ' replayed him his head with her voice. She was gonna say n- "Yes I like you too. Not just as a friend." He turned to look if there was indication that she may be lying or if this was a dumb prank. "Y-you do?" He questioned in disbelief. Why would she like him? "I do. Very much in fact." She said with her incredible smile. Kageyama couldn't help but be excited. His plan was working.Soon after talking for bit, they were at Lyra's house. "Well this is my stop." She said as she looked up at him. He was much taller than she was but that was no issue for them. That still really liked each other regardless of the awkward height difference. "Good night." The volleyball setter said. When he began to turned Lyra panicked and grabbed his shirt. "Can you lean down? I have to tell you a secret." Kageyama did as his crushed asked and leaned down to her height. The brilliant blue haired girl grabbed the front of his shirt and kissed him. She could feel the heat from his cheeks on her face and smiled into the kiss. Kageyama was surprised at say the least but he got himself together and reciprocated her action. The feelings of electric danced on both their lips. Lyra was the first to pull away. "That was really nice and good night Kageyama." He waved at her goodbye and walked away with jelly legs. That was so breathtaking and...his first kiss.
