"i love you"

christmas had past and it was now new year's eve. the day had just started and hinata was thinking to himself in his room.

hinata's pov-
i feel so bad for kageyama. leaving him and his feeling for me alone. i mean at least my head is clear now and i know what i want. i'm over that stupid ex of mine. i should've realised how much of a dick he was earlier.

hinata walked onto his balcony, took a deep breath in, the air tasted fresh and cold, he then breathed out, a small trace of cold air followed from his mouth. it was a nice morning.

he then returned to his room and decided he wanted to go and see kageyama. he opened kageyama's door and was ready to jump on his bed, but he wasn't there.

what was there were clothes on his bed, all neatly piled up, some were in a suitcase that lay next to the bed, on the floor.

what's happening? why is he leaving? he's leaving me isn't he? he's had enough of me.. just like my ex did.

tears began falling from hinata's face, he dropped to the floor, his emotions were messy, his head was full of guilt. he'd driven another away.

he was bullshitting to me. how can he say i'm not the problem when he's leaving me after the talk we had. he said he liked me.. was all of this just a joke?

hinata heard footsteps behind him.

"hinata? what are you doing? are you okay?"

hinata turned his head to look up at kageyama. his eyes red and full of tears.

"hinata why are you crying? what happened?"

"you. you're leaving me aren't you? just like he did.."

kageyama looked shocked.

"no no, you have it all wrong hinata. i'm not leaving you. i'd never leave you, you think after i confessed my love to you and heard about what you'd already been through that i'd just leave you like that?"

"it looks like you're leaving.."

"truth is, yes i'm going away, but only for a week. i'm visiting my family since i didn't get to see them on christmas, they called this morning and asked. don't worry, i was going to tell you but you hadn't woken up yet so.."

hinata felt so stupid. if he didn't overthink, took a step back and thought about it then none of this would've happened.

"oh god kageyama i'm so sorry. i'm so stupid."

"don't worry, if i were in your position i'd think the same thing. do you want a hug?"

"mhm.."

kageyama shuffled closer to hinata and embraced him in his warmth, part of him felt guilty since he was doing this for his own greed; he wanted to touch hinata in some way, but part of him also didn't care, it was helping hinata so it was okay.

it had become noon and kageyama was ready to leave, but hinata had to tell him something very important before he left.

"well i'm going now hinata. i'll be back before you know it so don't worry your pretty little head off."

"bye kageyama! i love you..."

"you-you what? did i hear that right?"

"what? i only said i love you."

"say it again."

"i love you?"

"once more."

" i love you i love you i love you kageyama!!"

hinata was infront of kageyama at this point.

"i love you more, hinata."

"whatever you say. pretty boy." hinata smirked

kageyama walked closer to hinata, looked down at him and cupped his face.

"hinata. can i.. kiss you?"

hinata looked up at him, flustered. but of course he wanted to be first, so he went on his tiptoes and kissed kageyama on the lips.

it was a long and passionate kiss, one that both of them would never forget. and with that, hinata waved goodbye.
