Chapter 1: Coming to Town

Riley's POV:

Today is the day I have to leave everyone behind and I don't even know why. I always wondered if my parents hated me but they sure love my sister more. She gets to stay here for the summer will all of her friends and I am banished to a place no one knows exist. How could they do this to me?!

At least I know Pacifica but we haven't seen each other since we were kids. I wonder if she's any different. I know she's still spoiled rotten but when you give her a chance she can be really nice. I had to learn that by really getting to know her. I wonder if she even remembers me. 

A couple years ago, people were talking about some sort of crazy phenomenon that happened where someone unleashed a dimension or something. I laughed so hard when it got to me. That's not even possible, there's no such thing as demons or other dimensions we can actually go to. 

But I guess there's always room for the impossible, like my parents practically kicking me out of the house. I huffed and shuffled my feel down the stairs with my bags in hand. Time to say goodbye I suppose. Not to my friends, them I just ghosted because I don't know if I'll ever see them again. After about a month they stopped trying to reach me so I assume they wouldn't even care that I'm leaving or if I come back. 

"Okay are we leaving yet?" I asked with a bored look on my face. My mom looked at me with an uneasy smile. My dads just crossed his arms. My mother started to speak:

"Well honey you see... we are taking your sister to our house in Hawaii with a few of her friends later today, so we can't take you," she responded to me quickly. My jaw drops so fast but I pick it up trying to compose myself with tears threatening to escape. They don't even have time to drop me off somewhere that's only two hours away, we have a private jet for goodness sake! 

"Yeah and your taking the bus it's going to be here in about two minutes," my dad said as he walked up the stair. 

I was about to scream at them but decided they weren't even worth it. Walking outside I notice something in front of our house. There was my bus I guess. Don't get me wrong, I don't care that I have to take the bus. I have no problem with taking public transportation but my parents were not going to see my in three months yet they wouldn't even drop me off and help me get settled. 

"Fine, whatever. I'm going because the bus is here," I say walking out the door as one single tear slips from my eye. I wipe it as quickly as I could before getting on the bus.No one waved at my no one said goodbye, it was almost like I never existed to them. My mother looked like the only one with any remorse.

When I get on the bus, I notice that the only ones on here are the bus driver and I. He seems relatively normal but I don't feel like talking. He turns in his seat as I get on and tries to give me a reassuring smile. 

"Your parents rented the bus out so you would be safe on your trip to Gravity Falls. No one knows that place better than me, I am the one who takes everyone there. So why are you headed there, got people in town? The only people who use my service are ones who live there. It isn't such a tourist spot after the rumors started. People seem to get by though," He rambled. Apparently HE wanted to talk. I wasn't in the mood for someone with such energy. 

"I'm just visiting my grandparents for a little while, " At least I sure hoped so. I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. He seemed to take that as a good enough answer and stopped bothering me for the time being.

I put in my headphones and listened to my downloaded music for the trip. Looking out the window I wondered if I would even be able to go back to my friends and family again, not that they really wanted me. But my sister always payed attention, she was a few years older but seemed to understand me. She never liked the fact that my parents seemed to never care.
