I pushed open the barn style white door and made my way over to Thea who was standing next to the several lines that were crossed over one half of our backyard.

"There you are, come give me a hand with the sheets." She gave me a sweet smile and started to hand me the other half of the sheets she was holding.

I watched her while we shook out the sheets and hung them on the lines and she looked so happy. The smile on her face and the slight hum while she was working was so foreign to me.

Why couldn't I just hum and smile while I did my chores instead of feeling restless, bored and wanting no craving adventure. We finished in no time and I promised myself to try and be more like Thea when I did my chores.

We walked towards the house and Thea was telling me about Ben and how when the time came how she saw their life together and how many children she hoped they have.

I liked Ben he was nice and he looked in love with my sister but I just could not shake the feeling that something wasn't right. It might just be the fact that my sister was just 18 and he was 25 and he sometimes would look at her with this look in his eyes that just made me feel uncomfortable.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when my mom shoved some plates in my hand and my eyes found hers.

"Honey I love you but you need to get yourself in order. No more dreaming, finishing your choires on time, listening, obey without question and do all you can to be a good girl that follows and respects the rules."

Her tone sounded friendly but the look in her eyes told me her patience with me was nearing the end.

"I know mother, I was occupied with thoughts of Thea and Ben and I had not noticed I was not paying attention. I'm very sorry and apologize for my behavior, I will do anything in my power to become a good girl that follows and respects the rules we live by."

The un-shed tears in my eyes softened the hard look in her eyes and she gave me a curt nod before turning back to the stove. I knew I had to show mother and father that I was willing and trying to become anything they desired of me and I would try my hardest to make them proud.

Thea was folding the napkins and placing them next to the cutlery and gave me a smile when she went back to fetch the glasses and some other little things missing. I quickly placed down the plates and smoothed out any folds in the tablecloth.

When she returned we placed the glasses and filled them up with water and I put an extra glass at my fathers place so he could use it for his special drink. Thea gave me a wide smile and a thumbs up at my idea and left to help finish up dinner.

I made my way upstairs to get Sarah ready for dinner and put a clean dress on her. She wasn't that dirty I just knew my father wanted us to look a certain way for dinner. After Sarah was ready I changed my own clothes and fixed both our hair. She giggled at me and placed her arms around my neck when I carried her down the stairs.

Happiness bloomed in my chest when I heard her sweet giggle and I saw the warm look of love in her eyes. I gave her a quick cuddle and then placed her down before making our way into the dinning room.

We stood their waiting for our father and brothers to enter and they came in shortly after looking clean and proper after they had refreshed themselves.

My father and brothers sat down and he asked us to serve them and then after we had we were aloud to join them at the table.

He recited the words so familiar to me now.

"Thank you Ibrahim for your guidance, Thank you for showing us the path.

Thank you for giving us the strength and wisdom to live good lives.
