Blink Blink
When i opened my eyes i expected to see the vortex. Yet my mind told.
" Calm down Xave you're good". Of course it was not my mind talking but Unclie Smith.
I sighed " Of course Unca i am good"
Sure enough the vortex had dissappeared and i was back in the room. As usual there were no doors in the room.
" Unca there are no doors here".
" Of course there will be a door. Go find it, unlock it with your touch , and open the key".
"But Unca", i protested " there are no doors here".
"There should be. You have not looked carefully enough".
"Of course i have .What do you expect to find in a whitewashed room"
Suprisingly the butterflies that i always had in my stomach were absent. Maybe it was simply because i had come to accept the truth about my crisis except Uncle Smith of course. He still believed in me, but not anymore because he has witnessed the truth. A part of me felt releved another felt a dull pain in my head just at theplace whre my temple and skull fused.
I heard a sharp intake of breath and then he sighed " Ok kiddo come back".
I closed my eyes, pressed my knuckles hhard and focused at my centre of gravity, then i lifted my heel and spun around while keeping my hands away from me, and bending them in a curve. And when the shock hit me i was fully prepared for it, the moment my spirit collided with my limp body.

"Duh dude ", said cousin Ben when i went down to breakfast later that morning. He was the only one who hadn't wished me yet and i was pretty sure he wont.
" I knew you were a para right when i saw you".
" Dont listen to him Xave he is just pulling your leg. I am a para too but i am having a blast at my life", said Ant Judy.
I wanted to say to her that being a para sucked especially if they worked at non profit commercial hospital which payed only $200 a monthplus no benefits , no promotion and no incentives every year for holiday or shopping at X- mas. But of course i didnt .
" Whatever ", said Ben " Too bad you wont be coming with us at the end of the year for the Annual Carnival for alchemists.
" But even though you are para, you are pretty good at transition", said Pam" And that goes to saying for all those people who can even make it to the terrace without falling twice", looking pointedly at Ben.
" That was just one time. And basically is transition of use if you cat even chant an easy spell like Abrakadabra", Ben said pouting.
" There is no spell called Abracadabra ", Lola, my cousin said narrowing her eyes " And besides it helps in fight or flight option, when you are injured".
" Am i right Da", Lola said looking for my approval
" Of course you are right kiddo"
" Ok now everybody stop arguing and start eating", said Aunt Claire calling everybody to silence.
The magnificient smell of syrupy homemade pancakes came wafting to my nose. But i was in no mood for it. Seriously whoever have you heard eating a normal breakfast right after they have been a declared a para
Not that i have been declared yet. The hearing for the council came usually two weeks after the sixteenth birthday. Count down fourteen.
But seriously i dint want to face the council and all its four members. they look enought scary when i see them in the pictures with long flowing blonde hair and a stubborn mouth with brooding jaw. To me they all look the same. They are the High priests of the six immortals.
