The Cullen siblings had arrived at school in three separate cars that day, a decision made necessary by the fact that Jasper and Dorothea were required to be alone for the ride. The silence in the car was far from uncomfortable, but rather, it hung in the air, filled with the weight of unspoken thoughts.

Both of their minds were overloaded with worries about their family's future, and the gravity of the situation occupied every thought, leaving little room for conversation.

"Bella's going to confront Edward today. Are you planning on stopping him?" Jasper finally broke the silence, his eyes flicking to Dorothea for a brief moment before returning his attention to the road. His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it—a deep understanding of the risks involved.

Dorothea kept her gaze fixed on the school as they drove closer, her eyes narrowing slightly as she watched Bella leaning against her truck, her focus entirely on Edward. "There's no harm in trying," she replied softly, though the undertone of her voice revealed her skepticism. "But I know it's going to be pointless."

Jasper didn't respond immediately. His hands gripped the steering wheel a little tighter, as if trying to hold himself together. His mind was a flurry of conflicting emotions—protectiveness over his family, concern for Edward, and a deep-rooted fear of what would come next.

As they parked, Jasper moved first, stepping around the car to open Dorothea's door. The small act of chivalry earned him a soft, quick kiss on the lips, her fingers brushing against his as she stepped out. Their hands naturally found each other, fingers interlocking, an unspoken promise between them.

The tension in the air thickened as they watched Bella march up to Edward, her expression resolute. Her eyes met his, but they weren't filled with the usual warmth. Instead, there was something deeper, something that said, We need to talk. Without another word, Bella turned and walked past him, heading straight into the dark forest that bordered the school grounds.

Edward stood motionless for a moment, his gaze following Bella as she disappeared into the trees. He was about to take a step toward her when Jasper, with a speed born of years of practice, stepped in front of him, blocking his path. Rose, always fiercely protective of their family, was at his side, her hand gripping Edward's arm.

"Edward, don't go," Rosalie's voice was firm, commanding.

The Cullens stood in a tense silence, not sure how to handle the situation. Their eyes followed Bella's figure until she was completely out of sight. Emmet, Dean, and Dorothea stood back, unsure of what to do next, while Alice—ever the one to act first—moved in. Gently, she loosened the hold Rose had on Edward's arm, her tone soft yet direct. "He's already there."

Before anyone could react, Edward was gone, moving with the swiftness that only vampires could. The rest of them stood frozen for a moment, none of them knowing what to do or say.
