Drollery, West Elizabeth
The sun rose brightly over the small-town of Drollery, waking up the sleeping Avery Shalashaska: he's a mechanic for Mathew's Tire and Battery Services. Rolling over in bed the man looked to see his alarm clock. "Damn!" He shrieked. His view of the clock informed him that he only has about 15 minutes left to arrive at work on time: to get his uniform on along with keeping up his hygiene would take him about 6 whole minutes, most could likely get it done in half that time but he isn't most and hygiene is a bigger priority. He's also lucky to live not very far from work. Running out the door he quickly realizes he forgot his glasses so that's another trip back in, taking off a minute of time. About 8 minutes remain as he's dashing down the streets like a lunatic; however, his sprint is cut short when it hits him in his mind about as hard as his face is about to hit the concrete: he forgot to tie his shoes.
As he plummets to the ground his shoulder bumps into another bystander, she tumbles down along with him; the drink she held drenching her top. "Goddamn it... you spilled my coffee you prick!" She scolded at Avery. While she began reprimanding him, he finally tied his shoes; and after that he looked upon her to see the mess he's made. "Oh no! I am so sorry mam!" He spoke. Avery started to help her when he looked to the clock tower: he had 5 minutes left.
Avery immediately stopped what he was doing and ran. ""Hey!? Where the hell are you going?!"" "I'm sorry miss! I only have 5 minutes, or else I'm boned!" The streets felt almost maze like as he ran: he couldn't afford to lose this job.
2 minutes later Avery began slowing down: his actions were beginning to weigh on him. "That women, you can't just leave her: it's your fault this happened to her and it's your responsibility to make this right!" Were one of his thoughts. "She's forever going to hate you for that, going back won't make things right, what you did will forever stain her mind and likely ruin her days. Shocking that such an worthless maggot like yourself could cause someone so much suffering." Were another set of thoughts.
Avery came to a complete halt, his vision becoming blurry, he was on the verge of tears. Looking at his work place in the distance he felt the emptiness inhabit all his body- genuinely feeling like he was about to vomit. Turning around and walking back the way he came, through the streets he was just running moments ago. Reaching the point where he had bumped into the women revealed her to still be there, the mess he had made was about cleaned up.
Avery walked toward her. "Miss." He said. She turned to him, a sour look creeping onto her face. "Well look who decided to come back, did you feel guilty? I thought you had 5 minutes or else you were going to be 'boned'." She spoke in a cold-hearted tone. Avery's gaze at her was almost lifeless, he had something to say but the words were unable to escape his lips: instead he said nothing, walking past her, continuing his path home where he would simply go back to sleep.
