Exactly how I would call Coal town - the blandest area of the Flintstone city...
Note: This Series is in Suho's POV
At times, you never feel excited to get your ass off and resemble a workaholic. You never get a feeling of elation through the window that oversees a bunch of vibrant buildings. Your cot feels like a mattress and your pillow acts as a napkin. The florescent bulbs don't brighten up your day. Hot cozy shower neglects to clean your mind. Yet, you keep handing over your wallet to your fellow roommates for the sake of gratitude of what they have been throughout your school days. Out of all the renowned places of the urbanized colony, why on earth did we choose to live in Coal town.
"What's the situation, Junmyeon? Sitting like a booted out PC for an hour?" Minseok questioned me with a baby smirk.
"Nothing. Just thinking where to move."
"Oh, C'mon."
I can't. I can't explain that to him. He'll bring out with more justifications, wanting me to counter that with valid excuses.
"There's a pool to dive. A gym to flex. A bar to drink. What more can you ask for?"
He's got a point. Being brutally honest, it's not easy to scrape out Coal town's lacklustre. Considering my standards, this place, I wouldn't say more than enough. But certainly adequate indeed.
"But, there's something that doesn't sit with me right."
I was not sure what I wanted to mean. Nor that was a valid excuse. Maybe it's the strange ambience, something that is completely different from the ones I experienced during my college days. I kept rubbing my toes off my chair's legs. Even the living room is neat enough. Enough to impress a middle class employee. The Sherlock novels and philosophical magazines were symmetrically stacked inside the deep brown shelves beside the newly bought TV.
The rags were surprisingly clean and tidy along with the sandal couches looking fresh, puffing out no dust. My mom would have definitely claimed a selfie of me in this room as a photo-shopped picture. Yet, the only things I could genuinely feel are the four ivory walls. As bland as it should be.
He was right. But no. He wasn't. Well, maybe he was. But only if the prevailing facilities were factual enough. There's a pool. But it has a 1/16 probability to contain water due to unknown reasons. There's a gym. But has absolutely poor equipment. Even if I had to bring my own, the shutters are mostly likely to be down. I wonder if they even have proper opening hours. There's a bar in which everytime I sneak in, these loomed mafia guys will make a mess. Rivers of beer stains and junks of broken glasses would occupy the floor.
So technically, these so called facilities are disguised. At least to my eyes. The ones I have mentioned aren't even half of the pallette. Perhaps, the best colour of this pallette could be my rented house. Yet, at this point, even that colour has began to fade. Maybe that's why my brown wallet is turning grey and the door knobs are getting corroded.
*Ding Dong*
The doorbell did not ring in a least expected time. It was almost 4 pm in the scorching Thursday evening and I had no one else to expect other than my proud buddy - Jongin. In the sense, he's the only moneymaker among us and there's pretty much nothing else to take pride in. Hold on, I'm being harsh on him.
"Who now?!" Minseok murmured in slight apathy. Although he didn't need to as he obviously knew that my boy will be back from his dance school at this time. Yet, he hastily surfed towards the yellow front door and didn't spend a second in viewing through the peep-hole.
Meanwhile, the little anticipation of his entrance had me brainstorming something that I wished to look into. Contemplating on Kai and his workplace, it surprisingly evoked a possible idea that I wanted to ask Minseok about at the moment. He opened the door as I casually peeped from my chair.
Was it him? Nope. It wasn't Kai. An unfamiliar shadow stretched beside the door hinges.
