It was the morning of the first tournament games, Merlin was in Arthur's chambers preparing his armour.
"Do you have to do these games so often?" Merlin complained.
"Why because it means you have to do work?" Arthur laughed. "Stop complaining, you barely do anything anyway, it's fun,"
"How it a load of men beating each other up supposed to be fun?" Merlin questioned.
"It is fun Merlin," He smirked as he paced around his room.
"Nervous?"
"Don't be stupid Merlin," He scoffed. "It's just there's going to be the son of a king and he wants to be knight of Camelot apparently."
"What's the issue then?" Merlin asked, puzzled.
"So they don't go easy on him because of his dad, he isn't going to give his identity up until after the fighting, but he's going to need someone to help him who can be discreet, if you can manage that?"
"Of course! I'm sure I can manage that," He smiled.
"Thank you, he only requested that and a servant I can trust because he didn't bring his own, so you'll have to do,"Merlin finished up in the chambers and took the plates from Arthur's breakfast.
He stopped by his chambers and spoke to Gauis before heading to the tournament.
"I have a special job today," Merlin began.
"One of the knights don't want people knowing who he is until after because of his father. I hope he's nice."
"Really? Make sure they're not up to anything," Gauis advised him.
"Don't worry, I will." He acknowledged. "When don't I look out for Arthur?"The knight was already waiting in his tent for Merlin to help with his armour.
Merlin opened the tent, but to his surprise there was a woman getting changed.
She scrambled to cover herself.
"Can I help you?" She exclaimed.
"I'm looking for one of the knights, he asked for a servant to help? I'm Arthur's servant," He explained quickly as he turned away.
"Oh, I'm sorry." She apologised as she took her hood down. "That's me,"
Merlin turned back and looked at her. A beautiful young woman, long brown hair and her deep brown eyes, button nose and gentle face.
"But you're a woman?" He giggled, in shock. This can't be the knight.
"Have you got a problem with that?" She asserted, becoming defensive.
"No no of course not I was just expecting a man," Merlin tried to explain. "I'm Merlin,"
"This is why I don't want people to know till after otherwise they won't fight me properly," She elaborated. "I'm Lady Adelina,"
"It's a pleasure to meet you my Lady," He bowed.
"Please don't feel the need to bow," she told him as she held his hand to bring him back to standing. It was silent for a moment while she held onto his hand, his heart began to flutter. She was beautiful why would she want to be a knight?
Once she realised she was still holding his hand she dropped it quickly."Sorry, and please just call me Adelina, there's no need for the my lady," She smiled.
"That's fine by me my- Adelina," Merlin blushed. He began to prepare her armour and help her get into it. He held her hair back whilst she put on her chain-mail as he admired her beauty. She caught him out of the corner of her eye and they both smiled.
