CHAPTER ONE

(Bilbo's POV)

I didn't even hesitate before slamming my lips against hers.
Her eyes opened wide, and her hand gently found the back of my neck and pulled me closer.
I closed my eyes and smiled.
Finally.
I was suddenly shoved aside.
For a moment, I thought Kyah actually didn't like me, and I was devastated, thinking that she pushed me away.
She looked furious.
But not at me.
Thorin.
He was glaring at the both of us, his eyes glittering with absolute rage.
"Thorin! Why did you push him?" Demanded Ky, but Thorin didn't reply.
All he did was look at me with hate.
He walked up to me.
"Thorin! Leave him alone!"
Thorin stalked towards me. He looked mad enough to kill.
"You. Stupid. Worthless. Dumb. Halfling." He hissed in my face, too quiet for anyone else to hear.
I felt tears springing to my eyes.
So that's why he was looking at Ky like that. He likes her too.
I felt a twinge of jealousy in my gut, but I tried to ignore it.
"Thorin. Kyah is mine now. Leave her alone and let her choose who she loves."
I glanced towards Ky, who was struggling to stand.
"No, Ky. Lay back down. I don't want you getting hurt."
She reluctantly sat back down. She was shaking and weak, I couldn't let her face Thorin.
What would he do to her?
Thorin spat in my face.
"Why would Kyah ever choose you?" He hissed.
"You're worthless. Nothing."
My stomach clenched.
I wanted to be strong, but honestly-- I didn't know how.
I had been so strong against this tyrant for so long.
And now the moment I get my love back, knowing that she will survive--
Burn in hell, Thorin.
"You selfish arrogant excuse for a king." I snapped, somewhat surprised by my anger.
"Leave us alone."
Thorin brought me close and whispered in my ear.
"If I see you so much as look at her, I will hurt you. No one would miss you. Not even Kyah."
He backed away slightly, a wicked look in his eye.
"If you love Kyah, don't you ever speak to her again, or I'll take her. You'll never be able to hug her again. She'll be mine."
