Alayna's Pov:

"Alayna! I'm so sick and tired of that bitch crying! Shut her the hell up would you!" Jack screamed as he slapped me across the face.

Rayne, our three year old daughter continued to cry. Nothing I tried to do would calm her down. She was scared. Scared for herself, her brother and me. Jack had gotten home and began to drink immediately, I had been so busy with Rayne and our seven year old son Skyler that I had forgotten to make Jack his supper on time and he began to take it out on me.

"Stop it dad!" Skyler yelled and yanked on his father's leg.

Jack turned around, "What did you just say boy?!"

I immediately hid Rayne behind the sofa, and raced between the two.

"Move out of the way bitch! I'm going to teach my son some manners!" Right before Jack could reach us, there was a huge bang.

A bunch of men ran into the room, all dressed in black and holding dangerous looking weapons.

"Jack Ross? You're under arrest! You're bond has been revoked. You have not been contacting us and you have missed your court date." Dog the Bounty Hunter yelled at my husband.

At this point I had collapsed to the ground, a bunch of emotions swept over me. Soon I was sobbing and could not get myself under control. How bad would he have beating me if they hadn't gotten here? Would he have gotten to Skyler? Have laid a hand on Rayne? I could hear Beth and Lyssa standing above me telling me everything would be okay now. After a while I found some strength to pick myself off the floor. My son rushed to me and wrapped his arms around me.

"Mommy?" Rayne poked her head out from behind the sofa.

"Oh Baby, come here, you're safe now." She ran to me and I picked her up. Tears were running down her cheeks and she was shaking.

Beth motioned me to come and sit down on the sofa, she passed me some Kleenex. " You have a bleeding lip, I'm sorry we didn't make it here a few minutes earlier. We could have prevented this. We heard the screaming, so we broke down the door. He's going to jail for a long time, if you'll let us my family would love to help you and your children get back on your feet and provide support."

" I couldn't possibly ask that of you. Your family has done much more then we deserve already."

" Don't be silly, we can give you a job and find you a safe place to live. This neighborhood is no good for these children and you to stay."

I look down at Rayne curled into me still shaking and over at Skyler who is fascinated by one of the mace guns Dog's son has. How many times do I have to get pushed around by my own husband before I realize that it needs to end, that there could be a happy ending for me and my children. Maybe this is the fresh start I've been praying for.

I turn to Beth, " I will accept the opportunity to have your help, but only till I have a safe place for my children. I promise I will re pay you for all that you've done."

"Mom!" Skyler runs across the room dragging Dog's son behind him, " This is Leland, he saved us mom. And guess what mom, he's Cobie's Dad! Remember Cobie Mom? My friend from school?"

"That's lovely baby, but I'm sure Leland has very important things to do. Why don't you come over here and sit with me."

"It's fine, he's a very nice young man." Leland smiled at me, "Alayna, right?"

I could only nod. When he said my name, something stirred deep inside of me. I could feel my cheeks heat up, my heart started to race.

"I was just telling her, Leland that we would help her out, until she got back on her feet." Beth explained.

"Definitely. In fact I have an extra room at mine, you and your daughter can sleep there and I'm sure Cobie wouldn't mind having Skyler bunk with him."

"Oh no. I couldn't possibly take your offer. I have no way of paying for rent or anything."

"I insist, rent is not important to me. Helping you and your kids is a priority. If you are worried about it maybe you could take care of the house and get the kids to and from school. I'm sure we could work something out."

Skyler started jumping around and thanking Leland . Even Rayne poked her head up and I could see a small smile. This could be the best thing for us.

"Thank you, Leland."

"Now let's get you to a hospital to get looked over," Beth said as she helped me get up. "Lyssa would you and Leland go through the house and pack up everything that is Alayna's or the children's and bring it over to their new residents?"

"You got it mom." Lyssa confirmed and walked away presumably to the kids room.

"Can I stay here with Leland mom?" I look to Leland.

"Of course you can little man, go start packing." Leland said. Skyler started hollering and running around grabbing a bunch of stuff. "Alayna, I can see the worry in your eyes, go get looked after, bring Rayne with you and when you're done my mom will bring you to mine and always remember that you are safe now."

Leland Chapman is our savior.
