Prologue

Tokyo was lively. Especially at night. So it was a good thing for Y/n. Just not her prey

The young girl stared down at the bodies, she only ate three but the others, she didn't feel hungry. She knew she only needed two or three humans to eat. So why did she kill the others?

Oh right.

She felt mad. Looking at them, it was infuriating to see them smile. It just felt so unfair to her. If she didn't feel happy, why should everyone else?

"That's a rather big feast you got there. For someone your size" a voice spoke.

Y/n paused. She slowly turned to where she heard the voice. And saw an old man. Smiling at her.
Y/n frowns. A low growl escaping her as she gritted her teeth.

"You got a problem with the way I eat, old man?" Y/n spoke, her voice slightly muffled by her mask.

The day Y/n met Yoshimura, was probably the best for her. Well, at that time she didn't know that. All she knew was that there was this old man always coming to her on her bad nights talking about some peace bull.

But it seemed that every night, Y/n didn't cut him off as much. Didn't complain or tell him to screw off as much. She would even stay longer after eating. Y/n wouldn't admit it back then, but the old man grew on her.

But one night, the Doves caught Y/n. Not in the streets. No, at her home.

Y/n was great at jumping high. That's how she got away from some Doves that chased her down the streets. But that's hard to do when you have a sick little brother.

"Come on Mori!" Y/n shouted as she kept running with her little brother In hand.
Poor boy was trying to keep up with his sister, but his vision was blurry, he felt so cold. And most of all he was hungry, but was too weak and tired to eat

"Ah!" Mori couldn't handle it anymore, he slipped from his sisters grasps and fell behind. And was killed by a Dove

Y/n's eyes widen as she saw her brothers face. When she saw his face, it felt as if she had just saw it after a long time. And it wasn't the same face as she remembered.

Yoshimura hasn't seen the young ghoul in a few nights now. He was getting worried.
"Huh, Yomo. What did you need?"

Yomo suddenly came into the shop. He didn't always come unless it was about food or helping a new comer. So whatever he was here for was probably about some news he got.

And it was. Yomo heard there was a ghoul on the streets who's been killing off Doves without mercy. And it's not at random. This ghoul has been attacking the Doves at their own homes. Meaning it was personal.

Yomo gave the details of the deaths. And Yoshimura was very familiar to the style of the kills.

Y/n was panting heavily as she leand on the wall.

She's been killing off the Doves that attacked her and her brother that night. She would kill them in their own homes. If she couldn't feel safe in her home. Why should they?

"If I'm not happy, why should they be?"

The sudden voice surprised the young ghoul. She slowly turned her head to see who it was.

A small bitter chuckle slipped her lips
"What, you repeating what I say now?" She spoke with a small cough after that.

Yoshimura didn't say anything but just stare at her with pity. And Y/n didn't like that
"Stop giving me that look! I don't need your damn pity!" Y/n seemed to have the energy now as she got up.

"Why are you here anyway, huh? Tell me."
Y/n didn't get an answer. She ended up getting a question instead
"Are you mad enough to keep going after your done?"

Y/n frowns deeper. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Yoshimura saw the confusion and spoke again.
"You seem confused. Let me brake it down for you. There was about 6 Doves that were there that day. And you've already killed 5."

Y/n was shocked from what the man said. How did he know that much? Was he spying on her??

"So tell me how it goes when you've killed your last prey." Yoshimura tossed Y/n a little card before walking off.

Anteiku wasn't as crowded today. Peaceful, close to closing up too.

The bell to the door rang. Meaning someone came in.
"Welcome to Anteiku!. . . " Touka was expecting a normal human to walk in. That is until she smelled blood and saw a familiar ghoul she's seen around.

Y/n was escorted into the small living room where Yoshimura was.

The two sat there with Yomo sitting on the side to make sure no one else will Inturupt their little meeting.

They had a talk about Y/n. And how she'll be joining Anteiku. She needed a place to stay, but she couldn't stay at the coffee shop, she needed to stay low for a bit, so she had to stay with Yomo.
"I don't think he likes me." Y/m mumbled as she stood next to Yoshimura as she waited for Yomo to pull up with his car.

"And why do you think that?" Yoshimura asked, looking down at the young girl. She looked better then last time. She was clean, and her eye bags were slowly, but surly going away.

"He doesn't speak to me much. Doesn't even look at me. . . You know I'm fine with just jumping place to place for now-"
Out of nowhere, Yoshimura smacked the back of her head.
"Ow- hey!" Y/n rubbed the back of her head.

"I won't let you live like that. That's tiring to do, and I need you for work. And, Yomo loves kids" Yoshimura said with a smile.
Y/n really doesn't believe that for one second.

Y/n's attention was turned to where she heard honking. It was Yomo. She sighed and bid goodbye to the old man.

Erimi came next to Yoshimura.
"Are you sure it's okay to pair them together?" She asked worriedly.

Yoshimura chuckled
"Trust me. They'll grow on each other."

Y/n and Yomo didn't speak a word to each other during the car ride. When they arrived at Yomo's apartment, Yomo spoke.

"This is your room. I had it prepared for you. My room is this one. The bathroom is down the hallway and to the left." Yomo said. Y/n nods. This was the first time he ever spoke to each other, she wondered if she should properly introduce herself.

But wouldn't that be kinda dumb? He already knows who she is. And she knows his name.

When she looked up again, Yomo wasn't there anymore. She frowns a little, she then just decided to go in her little room.

It was blank. Enough room for her to move around easily, but it looked so boring. Luckily, Y/n still had multiple pictures of her family and friends.
