(TW – explosions)
hiraeth - a homesickness for a home you can't return to, or that never was.
To the sound of the explosion came the terrible echo as if it were the anguished cry of God.
A massive pressure wave of the blast passes over me, my body pressure goes from normal, to the bottom of the ocean, to the borders of space, and back to normal all within a fraction of a second, forcing the air out of my lungs.
The heat was unbearable, I choked on black smoke and smelt my skin burn. The car exploded splitting into two, ashes and sparks falling like rain and settling on the tarmac.
Forcing myself to wake up from my sleep, I tried to steady my breathing.
Placing my arms around my legs and resting my head on my knees, I sat still in a haze, trying to regulate my heart rate and the tears streaming down my face.
Getting out of bed seemed like an impossible challenge.
Grief was something I had never experienced before my family, everything was gone, I don't know how to move without them.
It had been four years, and the emptiness still consumes me.
