All he could feel was pain.
She didn't want him.
She didn't love him.
All the glances he had imagined, the gifts, the stolen touches. Even the songs, they were all meaningless.
As soon as she said it, that she didn't love him, he understood. It was all in his head, when their hands brushed and his heart soared she felt nothing.
His song was nothing but music, and when their eyes met she was always the first to look away. Because she didn't care.
He felt so empty like he was missing a peice of himself, was it a shard of his heart that she had stolen?
Luka could remember the last time he felt like this. The time his mother told him about his father, he felt nothing.
Everything was so empty and he just wanted to feel again. To feel anything.
He wouldn't fall into his old habits and toxic coping mechanisms.Never again he reminded himself. But what else could he do do make it stop.
Luka just wanted it to stop.
He wanted the memories that flashed behind his eyes to go away.
They hurt to watch.
Her smile directed at Adrien instead of him, the look of pure joy as their eyes met. It left him shaking and gasping for breath.
"Stop it!" He muttered harshly but his trembling hands didn't obey.
His breath hitched and he quickly brought them too his head, nails digging into his scalp.
Luka tucked his head, he didn't want to cry.
Crying makes you weak, but he couldn’t stop the tears as they bubbled up and stung at his eyes burning trails down his cheeks when they finally fell.
He gritted his teeth contorting his expression into a feral snarl hidden behind his hair. The only evidence of his upset were the violent shudders that wracked through his body, and his heavy sobs not quite silent enough to go unnoticed.
Luka groaned through his tears, his head was pounding.
He needed something to take it away, the pain, the nothing. Everything.
And then he got a message.
A friend he hadn't talked to in years.
A friend so broken that he had to abandon them before they dragged him under.
Why did he leave her?
He brought a hand still shaking away from his hair and snatched the buzzing phone out of his pocket.
Léa.
When was the last time he talked to her?
Léa.
Always so true to her name, she was so delicate. Fragile in a way almost nobody understood, so hard to break. But so easy to crack, too easy to chip.
Maybe that was the problem, she was already broken. Only fragments left for people to destroy.
Léa.
He opened the message.
Miny Moo 🐼
Luka laughed at the familiar nickname along with the animal she had insisted was a cow.
>I miss you.
And this time his breath hitched for a different reason.
Léa.
His light in the dark.
>Where are you?
Luka's tear stained face was hopeful, and his shaking calmed as he clutched onto the phone like it was his lifeline. And maybe it was, his lifeline, his Léa.
>[Location Attached]
Luka smiled at the phone and scrubbed at his eyes. That was where he needed to go.
His perfect distraction.
