After another hour of sharing stories, you and Iwaizumi got into his car and drove to the cemetery. Iwaizumi said the drive there wouldn't take too long, just a few minutes.

Staring out the window, you noticed the sky had turned gray, resembling how you felt at the moment.

Like Iwaizumi had said, the cemetery wasn't far and soon, a large, flat area of land rolled into your view. You straightened yourself up in your seat. "Is that it?"

Iwaizumi nodded. "Yeah."

You two hopped of the car and Iwaizumi stopped by a nearby flower shop to get some flowers. You trudged to Oikawa's grave where Iwaizumi gently placed the flowers beside the tombstone.

Iwaizumi kneeled down down and touched his friend's tombstone. You listened as Iwaizumi began to speak to Oikawa's grave, as if he were actually there. You tried your best to keep your tears at bay, but you couldn't any longer when Iwaizumi attempted to crack a joke.

You placed a hand on Iwaizumi's shoulder as you knelt beside him, reading the words engraved on the tombstone.

Oikawa Tooru

July 20, 1994 – March 23, 2021

Iwaizumi craned his neck and his eyes met yours, he was tearing up too. He rose to his feet, mumbling that he'd be back in a few minutes and you watched him over your shoulder as he strode away.

Glancing back at Oikawa's grave, you let out a sigh.

This was incredibly painful, knowing that you had forgotten someone you once loved so much.

And what's worse was the fact that you had forgotten about his death.

Your shoulders shook uncontrollably as you sniffled, tears stinging your eyes.

"I'm so sorry, Tooru," you hiccuped, closing your eyes as tears streamed down your cheeks. "I'm sorry for forgetting you, I know I promised I wouldn't, but I did. I'm sorry you cried so much because of me, I'm sorry for everything I put you through."

Heaving in a shaky breath, you gazed ahead of you at the field, stretching for yards and littered with tombstone of passed loved ones. The trees swayed as a cool breeze blew their way and to yours, fanning your tear-stricken face.

It's so peaceful here, you thought to yourself.

You wanted to stay there forever, basking in the comfort of the wind and the scent of incoming spring while the world stopped around you.

But not like this.

You didn't want to be crying over your boyfriend, the one you had no memories of.

You wanted Oikawa to be alive and well. You wanted him to use his 'charms' to make you fall in love with him all over again, just like he'd promised.

You wanted Oikawa right next to you.

Not buried 6-feet underground.

You lowered your head again as another sob escaped your lips.

"If things didn't turn out the way we wanted them to then maybe— maybe we'll meet again... in another life." You knew you sounded like a crazy person, and there was probably no such thing as another life, but all the guilt and desperation weighing down your heart pushed you to speak again. "In another life... where we can be happy, where I wouldn't have to forget, and you wouldn't have to leave."

You managed to smile as a tear rolled down your cheek and landed on his tombstone, turning it a shade darker.

"Yeah, maybe."
