Chapter 10

Reunite

Luhan woke up from the chirping sounds of the birds, the surroundings is as peaceful as the sky. He sat up while yawning and stretching his limbs, then he turned around at his right side and saw no one. He frowned, but then he remember that he needs to find Baekhyun as soon as possible, but before he can stand up, his stomach growled angrily.

"Ughh... I'm starving... ugh..." he mumbled in cracky tone while pressing his stomach in his palms, his throat is so dry.

He slowly crawled to the river bank and drank a lot of water, replenishing his thirst.

"Haaaa... felt better" he mumbled.

He ventured the river bank in search for food and found alot of clams, and shellfishes that is edible. He immediately fished the clams one after another, breaking the shells using rocks and slurped the flesh of the clams. He devoured the flesh like there's no tomorrow, like a stray starving dog. He ate the flesh raw, without cooking. He's just hungry.

After filling his empty stomach, he immediately stand up to continue search for Baekhyun, and that's when he noticed the black and burnt tree in the other side of the forest. His eyes widened and was stunned in the horrible view. He really didn't notice it early because he was too focused in his food.

"What... happened?" He mumbled.

He crossed the river and went to the burnt forest, and something caught his attention. Above the giant ashed trees are a swarm of flying creatures passing by. But there's something that intrigued him, it's definitely not a bird because its size were huge and it looks like there's someone or something, riding on it?

In order to answer his own question, he needs find it out. So, he decided to follow the direction of the swarm of flying creatures.

After an hour of tiring walk, the closer he get to the destination, the more familiar the surroundings is, to him. The surroundings are very similar to the woods that is near in Azure Lake. But he can't confirm it yet, because if this place is really belong to Azure Lake, then he should've seen the palace awhile ago. But there is nothing.

So, he decided to venture deeper, and that's when he realized that this place is really his home, his homeland. But he is confused of why he hadn't seen the palace yet, he knew that they were attacked but why would it suddenly disappear? As he got closer and closer his chest became heavier and heavier.

And when he finally arrived, the view in front of him made his knees go weak and tears start to fall. Yes he saw an armies with a winged creature that has a body of an eagle at the front and a body of a horse at the back, but that was not the reason. Right before his eyes was the once peaceful place where the palace once stood, proud and tall. And now was turned into nothingness.

He gulped the lump that formed in his throat and cried. He can't breathe, the air is suffocating.

*heavy breathing*

"What are you doing here?!" Luhan half yelled in cracky sound.

All the attention were on him, the soldiers immediately pointed their spears and swords towards Luhan, as he is unknown to their eyes or maybe a threat.

"Stop" Chanyeol's deep baritone echoed, making the soldiers obeyed his order.

Chanyeol recognized him, he once saw him at his birthday that took happened days ago, and he knew Luhan is Azurean. His wings emerges from his back before flapping it, and flew towards Luhan.

"W-what are you all *sobs* doing here?" Asked Luhan while his tears streaming down to his cheeks, without bowing to the taller Male who is towering him, even though he knew Chanyeol is the emperor.
