Trauma

No one's POV:

As she closed her eyes tightly, Yeona jumped, expecting to feel the hard surface of the ground below her or to stumble above Hyunjin and they both fall.

But no

She only felt his sturdy arms wrap around her hips, securing her safely in his arms.

She opened her eyes slowly, Hyunjin was looking up at her with a serious face that she couldn't decipher its meaning until he smirked playfully, "See? You just fell for me."

Pouting angrily, she hit his shoulders and pushed him so she could land down on her feet, "Shut up!"

Hyunjin chuckled as he hurried after her.

"Where should we go now?" He asked.

"Don't ask me. I still can't believe I'm skipping school!"

"Aw don't worry, you're with THE Hwang Hyunjin." He flipped his non-existent long hair.

"That's specifically why I'm worried." Yeona muttered, "I'm still mad at you, you know. So don't talk to me." She added.

"Huh? Whyyy?!" He whined.

Yeona didn't answer. She was ignoring him, flat like that.

"Yah! Don't ignore me!"

"Yeona!"

"Park Yeona!"

"You're going to keep ignoring me?!"

"YAH!"

"YAHHHHHHH!"

"Would you shut up?! We're in the middle of the streets! You can't just keep yelling-"

*BEEP BEEP*

"YAH! WATCH OUT!"

As Yeona was looking behind her at Hyunjin, not watching where she's going, she got too close to the road and a car was about to run her over a second before Hyunjin acted quickly and pulled her immediately towards him.

"IDIOTS!" Yelled the driver as he drove away.

Yeona didn't understand what just happened for a few seconds as she was stuffed into Hyunjin's chest while he held her by her shoulders,

"ARE YOU CRAZY?! YOU SHOUDN'T LOOK BEHIND YOU WHILE WALKING IN THE STREETS! YOU COULD'VE DIED JUST NOW YOU IDIOT!" He scolded her.

"S-Sorry...um...thanks for saving me." Yeona stuttered, feeling her heart race inside her chest. She wasn't sure wether it was from the nearly-accident or from Hyunjin's sudden hug.

Hyunjin sighed with irritation, "Seriously, stop worrying me would ya?! You always get hurt or injured! Can you please take more care of yourself?!" He kept yelling and Yeona kept blinking.

'He...worries about me?'

"Hyunjin Hyunjin! OKAY! I get it! Calm down!" She held his shoulders and rubbed them to calm him down, "It was just a small thing, I didn't get into an accident so everything's good!"

That's when he widened his eyes at her, "Small thing? Everything's good?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! THERE WAS A CAR GOING TO RUN OVER YOU YEONA! A CAR. A FREAKING CAR! YOU COULD'VE DIED AND YOU'RE TELLING ME IT'S A SMALL THING? YOU THINK CAR ACCIDENTS ARE A SMALL THING?!"

Yeona was confused now.

Why was Hyunjin so sensitive about car accidents?

After yelling all that, he finally finished and raised his head to take a calming breath.

"Hyunjin...calm down...please. I'm okay now." Yeona said slowly.

Hyunjin looked away and mumbled something, "I can't lose you too."

He started to walk away and Yeona quickly followed behind him after hearing what he last said...

The school day has ended and the rest of the guys already knew that Hyunjin and Yeona had skipped school, so they headed towards Hyunjin's house afterwards.

As they all entered, each of them took a comfortable position, scattered in the living room.

Hyunjin was talking with Seungmin and Chan so Yeona took that as her chance to pull Felix discreetly to the side of the room,

"What's wrong Yeona?" He asked a little worried.

"I wanted to ask something. Why is Hyunjin very sensitive when it comes to car accidents?"

"Huh? Why do you ask that? Did something happen?"

"Yeah well, I wasn't looking where I was going and a car was about to hit me but Hyunjin pulled me back in the right time. He kept scolding me and yelling at me a lot and he seemed...I don't know...very nervous or even scared."

"Yeah that's to be expected." Mumbled Felix.

"Why? Did something happen that made him get all worked up like that with car accidents?"

"Yeah...his parents died in a car accident when he was 6." Stated Felix and Yeona widened her eyes.

Felix continued, "What is more is that he was with them in the car, but only he survived. His parents didn't make it. So that's why Hyunjin became very sensitive and cautious around cars and car accidents, he was traumatised for a long while after the accident and even blamed himself for it."

At that point, Yeona was already crying. Tears just rolled down her cheeks effortlessly after hearing what Felix just said.

"That's horrible..." she managed to say as Felix patted her head slowly,

"I know...Hyunjin did have a very hard time after the accident but he has mostly recovered now. He just becomes very scared when someone he cares about goes through a near experience." Explained Felix then paused then continued, "I even remember when Jisung was riding the bike we got him for his birthday once and a truck was rushing towards him when he was crossing the road but luckily Jisung got out of the way in time, Hyunjin didn't allow him to ride the bike for a month after it and even kept it hidden in the basement to prevent him from finding it."

Yeona wiped her tears with her sleeve as she listened carefully to every word.

"So yeah that's probably why he freaked out when you were about to get hit. Just be careful next time, especially around him okay?" Felix smiled at Yeona as she nodded and they went back to where the others were sitting.

Today Yeona learned something new about Hyunjin.

Something very sad and traumatic and she couldn't help but feel the urge to go right there and hug him.
