I Started walking in the fields and was awestruck the same way like I was at 10 when I looked up the snow cap mountains. And when I looked down I was into tears as this is the farm I used to help my father during my childhood to sow seeds but they are all now dry and barren.

I reached back home, made my own green tea and started looking at a tap where it is kept open so that drops of water tips as during winters in Ladakh may cause the pipes to burst if they are completely closed. I also see these water droplets reaching the ground frozen and form a small sheet of ice. I kept looking at it the and something was not leaving my mind. The thoughts of rejunivating the flourishing agriculture in Ladakh and adequate water are reverberating in my mind.

Like a apple falling from a tree has enlightened Newton, Water tipping of the tap has triggered me. It was late night, still I called up few of my friends and villagers and explained my plan of "Artificial glacier". Many laughed at my idea and said never this is going to happen as I am a 79 years old man who retired by working 36 years in government sevice. But I never gave up almost all the bridges, road and culverts are build under my guidance and why not an Artificial Glacier I thought to myself.

The Basic Principle of Artificial Glacier is to slow down the fast moving water by constructing retaining walls during the end of summer and allow it to freeze it during winter so that the water is melted down in the next 60 days and used for Agriculture during spring as the Spring is the only season when agriculture can be practiced.

I would have thought I have worked enough for the people by doing a service of 36 years in government as a Civil Engineer, I would have listened people saying that it is impossible to build a artificial glacier. 

And Today I Built Artificial glaciers in 15 villages in Ladakh and farmers are happily farming. I am dearly called " Ice man of India" and I am neither from Marvel cinematic universe or DC Comics. I am the ordinary person like anyone of you reading this book but the one who thought I will never give up on my dream and My name is "chewang Norphel"
