Chapter 1: Zerefs' worst demon

Lucy's heart beat quickly and unsteady, her body shook with terror as she fell to her knees, landing face first in the rubble. The monster walked over to her, his boot kicked at her ribs, sending a sharp pain coursing through the celestial spirit mages body; forcing her to let loose a series of screams as she writhed in agony. His deranged laugh cackling out at the sight of his former friend, lying almost dead at his feet.

"Lucy, I thought you would put up more of a fight than that." Natsu laughed like a maniac as Lucy tried to crawl away, a thin pool of blood replacing where she used to lay. "Lucy! Oh no..." The voice of a young girl was heard a couple feet away, causing Natsu to twitch in the voices direction.

Wendy ran toward Lucy as fast as she could, Carla flew ahead, and started to pull at Natsu's clothing

"Natsu, stop this! This isn't you!" Carla pleaded as she tugged at his collar, trying to create a distraction so Wendy could grab Lucy and get away to the makeshift hospital Fairy Tail had set up for the injured.

Natsu batted his hand at the white cat, sending her flying into a pile of debris.

"Carla!" Wendy yelled, looking back at the cat who struggled to get a piece of rubble off herself.

"No, child! Don't! Get Lucy to safety, I'll be fine." Carla forced a smile up at the girl, tears rolled down the cats face as she looked on at her friend, she knew that Natsu would surely make quick work of herself, but the only way that Wendy could help was if she abandoned Lucy and somehow figured out a way to dodge Natsu, there was no chance, Carla would hopefully understand.

"I'm so sorry, Carla..." Wendy cried softly as she turned around and ran as fast as she could in the opposite direction, Lucy weighing the small girl down. She ran through the smoke, dodging fire left and right. The girl's blue hair trailing behind her, flowing in the wind along with Lucy's originally blonde hair, it was now so burnt and covered in dust that is was almost brown.

"Don't think for a second that I'll let you live!" Natsu yelled to Wendy, the frightened child only hoped that he would show up in time.

"Natsu!" Gray's deep voice bellowed all around, causing Natsu to get in a ready stance, not knowing where the ice make Mage would show up.

Gray appeared from the blackness of the sky, a blue exceed named Happy carrying him, allowing the Mage to fly forward with tremendous speed, Gray clenched his fist and hurled it forward, it impacted with Natsu's lower jaw and sent the man flying into what was left of a building wall. It was Magnolia's Cathedral. The same place that Natsu and Gajeel, a shady yet dependable character with the same dragon slayer magic as Natsu, fought Laxus, an overpowered guild member that almost tore apart the guild. Funny now that the person who defeated Laxus would destroy all of Magnolia.

Gray hovered in the sky, his spiky black hair burnt in away in certain places, (Natsu's attempt at burning the ice Mage) , a trembling Happy holding him in the sky, making it look like the boy had angel wings.

"Natsu... Is he... Dead?" Happy asked, trying to hold back the tears that threatened at his eyes.

As if on command, Natsu burst from the pile of stone that had crumbled on top of him, fire shooting out of his hands and mouth. The dragon slayer was, as he would put it, fired up.
