Debbie had always had a thing for Lou

Lou in Debbie's eyes was an angel sent down to earth for bad behavior.  Lou had that effect on people. Lou was beautiful. Tall, blonde, blue eyed and sharp featured. She was the perfect woman.  Debbie had a soft spot for deep Australian accents. They had known each other since collage when Lou had moved from Australia to New York. Debbie still couldn't see why she had left the good weather; clear air and crystal clear seas. Lou insisted it was because she was afraid of the danger that faced you every time you put on a pair of shoes without checking of spiders. Debbie wasn't sure she was telling the truth.

It was Thursday evening and Debbie was hoping to get some work done before Lou got back. They had decided it would be a good idea to chip in a buy a place together instead of living in 2 separate crappy apartments. The place they'd bought was big. It was an old theatre with a balconied second floor. It had two large staircases that were covered in several layers of chipped paint. Debbie wanted to paint it a cream colour but Lou wanted to keep it what she called "vintage".

Debbie had just started working at a new company. No one really knew what she did for a living but whatever it was she was good at it. She kept her work life and private life two very separate things. In contrast everyone knew what Lou did. She always made sure to tell people. She was proud of her mediocre job. She was a mechanic ; she mainly worked on motorbikes. That was her passion. Debbie liked it when Lou would talk about it. She found it hot. But she would never admit it to Lou.

It was 7pm as Lou walked it. It took Debbie by surprise, Lou had said earlier she had some business to sort out and would be back late. By business Lou meant she was going to stop by her friends bar and try to pick up girls. Lou was probably the biggest flirt that Debbie had ever met. Everywhere they went there would be someone Lou would hit on. Debbie had always  wished it would be her ; it never was.

D: You're back early. Thought you had stuff to do.
L: Plans change

Lou Was wearing a dark red suit with a waistcoat instead of a shirt. She would always wear a plethora of rings a necklaces. That was her thing. Debbie found Lou incredibly attractive and always just wanted to kiss her. She knew Lou wouldn't be happy. They would always be best friends. Never lovers.

Debbie didn't know that Lou was also feeling the same way. Lou had always thought Debbie was straight and just had a few female celebrity crushes. She had been with so many guys Lou had lost count. When she first met Debbie they we both 17 , Debbie was what Lou saw as the toxic, popular ; hot girl. Always sleeping with whoever and whenever. Debbie had disliked the nights she had spent with the soccer boys. She never wanted to put her mouth where they wanted her to put it. She would savour the moments she had talking with girls like Lou. The deep, meaningful conversations and the laugher. The urge to kiss them. And the eye contact that was held for too long.

D: You wanna get pizza or something.
L: I was thinking more Chinese
D: Sure, Chinese sounds great.
L: There's a new place round the block. I saw it on the way back. We can go on the bike.
D: You know I never know where to put my hand when we go on the bike.
-Debbie muttered hoping Lou wouldn't hear.-

They had always been flirtatious together and they had always both pretended in there head that the other one was in love with them. Neither of them expected to had their fantasies to come true.
