I groaned as my alarm went off, playing Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls. I had to take my younger sister to some weird convention today. I thought maybe setting my phone to a sweeter more mellow song might calm my nerves a bit, but there was no chance in that. I sat up, just listening and admiring how God damn early I was awake for for once. I decided to finally get up and start this whole thing. I was not the type for conventions or comic books or whatever she wanted to go for. I was more of a music person myself, I listened to all kinds. But Amy never seemed interested like me, I sighed as I started my shower. The cold water hit me before I could move. I shivered, oh glorious I knew how this day would go.
After finally being ready, and all the struggle of picking out what the flip flop to wear because like, this isn't my crowd or group I'd hangout with. So, I have no idea what I should even wear. I settle for a red and black checkered flannel over a Star Wars shirt, it's the only thing I had that seemed to fit this occasion. Or so I think. My phone buzzes just as I sit down in the car.
Amy
"Are you coming?"Me
"Yes, on my way. See you in 15. :)"I sent that text message and with that i buckled up and began my short drive toward my childhood home. I myself had moved out as soon as I turned 18. I literally was moved out a month after I did turn 18. Amy was 8 at the moment, so yes there's a gigantic age difference between us. She was now 13, I'm 23.
I pulled up to the house and got out, before I even got to the porch my sister bursted outside like some psycho person dressed as a murderer at a haunted house jumping out to scare me. Boy did she ever. "Holy shit Amy, don't do that. Are you already ready to leave?" I asked, wondering why she's so excited at this time of day. I guess I'd have to try to understand it from her perspective. But I honestly couldn't. "Duh I get to meet Pewds, Jack, Wade, Bob, and of course Markiplier." She smiled a huge smile while she jumped up and down a bit. I sighed, wondering who these people even were and why my sister was a fan of theirs. "But, can I at least stop in and say hi to mom?" I asked for her permission, as if she were the adult here. I really shouldn't. But, it depended on what she wanted. I just wanted her happy. You see, my parents went through a rather rough patch right about the time I moved away. It all ended in a divorce, my mom remains here. God only knew where my dad is. But since then, Amy has experienced the rough parts of life that some kids are lucky enough not to go through. And, I wanted to make her as happy as I possibly could.
"No Em, we have to go like right now!" She said running toward my car. I chuckled softly and made my way over, going as slow as I possibly could to get a rise out of her. She complained as I entered the car again about my speed. I smiled and entered the address into my GPS and began my journey to Boston. I don't know if I could stand Amy for a full hour and forty minutes. But I'll survive I hope.
After a long drive of small talk and catching up and a two stops at a gas station, we had finally got to the convention center. Amy exited the car as quickly as possible. Throwing my badge at me. I sighed throwing it lanyard around my neck and chasing her in my vans up to the double glass doors. I finally caught up to her at them, she was too scared and plus she couldn't get in without me. I smirked as we walked through the door. The line was long, but it wasn't like death defyingly long. I could stand the wait. But Amy stared complaining the second we stopped moving in line.
She was excited, I could see it in her brown eyes. My sister and I, looked very different from each other. She dyed her hair a dark shade of red, it was still vibrant and she was also a bit tanner than me. She had chocolate brown eyes. She was a tiny bit chubbier than me. But, not by much. She was shorter too, so it was understandable. I myself was about 5'5 and 118 pounds. My hair was still it's natural color. It was a light brown color and I didn't see the point in changing it. It was long, it reached the middle of my back. I didn't like to wear makeup or anything like that. My eyes were green, and I was happy with that. Because never once have I met a person with vibrant green eyes like me. I had always been complimented on my eyes. It was one of the only thing I really liked about myself.
