Chapter 31: We Can’t Choose…

Vanessa’s P.O.V

That’s when I heard the commotion, I struggled to stay awake, tried so hard to keep my eyes open but I could feel the darkness taking over me…

I would’ve given in to the darkness I could’ve just let it take over it would be so easy to just let go and give in to the darkness but when I heard Lucy’s whimpering it’s like it gave me just enough power to open my eyes and see her, she was way worse than me and I had to make sure she made it out alive. I could care less about myself but she had to live. She just had to.

With a new found energy, I blinked my eyes rapidly clearing my vision enough to see Viktor picking up Lucy and walking to the couch placing her down. With the help of the wall I was able to get on my feet again. I stumbled towards him, my legs freaking felt like jell-o, just when I was about to fall I felt someone holding me up. I looked to my right to see El; she quickly put my arm over her shoulder like I had done with Lucy a few minutes ago and rushed to the single seat couch helping me sit down.

“Hold on okay, I’m going to call Marie” She said and I nodded weakly. El took off rushing upstairs.

I turned my head to the right to see Alyosha and Viktor whispering harshly to each other, they seemed to be arguing about something. Alyosha was still tied down to the chair; looking at them I remembered John’s words “I killed her myself”

They had to know, I couldn’t die without telling them. They were doing what they thought was right, they were doing this for Irinushka, someone they loved. Maybe their way was wrong but their intentions weren’t. It was John who was playing this sick game not them, with that thought in my mind I started to stand up but instantly I was pushed gently back down, I looked at Marie, she had fear in her eyes but she was still composed.

“You must not move, it’s only going to increase the pain and worsen it. The bullet is still probably in” Marie said hurriedly and she moved to check my injuries but I stopped her.

“I’m okay; I’m fine you need to treat Lucy, she’s shot and stabbed and is in way worse condition than me” I said starting to get up again to talk to them but Marie pushed me down.

“I’ll check her but don’t move-“She was saying but I cut her off.

“I have to talk to them, I need to tell them something” I requested Marie and she hesitated. I slowly moved her hands away and started moving to them. El rushed to me to help me, with her support I walked or more like limped towards them. Alyosha and Viktor had stopped talking and were looking at me. There was something about Viktor; there was no more clenched jaw or hard-ass exterior. He was actually looking at me sympathetically. I reached them and sat on the chair that Viktor was tied to before. I looked at El and smiled.

“I’m fine, help Lucy please” I said to her pleading with my eyes, she nodded understanding and quickly kissed my forehead before rushing to Lucy and Marie. In that moment I felt so loved.

I turned to Viktor and Alyosha. Alyosha wasn’t looking at me but Viktor was quite attentively and alertly if I may say so.

“I know why you’re doing this” I started off and I saw Alyosha’s ears perk up.

“But you’re wrong… he’s lied to you all this time… it wasn’t our parents. It was him. John killed Irinushka, he killed her… She didn’t even want revenge from our parents for Jacob…” I took a deep breath it was getting harder to talk. Hell! It was getting harder to breath. But I had to tell them the whole story.
