It's the last day of middle school and I'm walking through the hallway when I hear my name being called. "Y/n! Wait up!". I turn my head to see my best friend, Allie, she's dressed in our school uniform with the skirt rolled too high to pass the dress code, and her long black hair is flowing past her shoulders. I smile at her as she catches up to me. "I'm so excited, it's so nice to be out of school finally," Allie said.
"Yeah, just think we get two months to reinvent ourselves before we go to our first year at Scorch High!" I say, just the thought of being a grade ten has me ecstatic. Everybody wants that 'magical' high school experience that you see in movies, and this summer I plan to make that happen.
"Yeah yeah, I know...but we also have two months to do nothing but sleep and eat ice cream," she says elongating the u in but, for Allie life comes easy, she is naturally gorgeous, and she never has a problem getting relationships, and she is unbelievably smart, although her looks may deceive many.
"Allie you do that no matter what time of year," I sigh as I'm already anticipating what she's going to say.
"I don't care about that," we say in unison.
"But Allie."
"I just don't care what people think, maybe you shouldn't either," she says trying to persuade me to sit around all summer and do nothing, she does not get that it isn't that easy for everyone.
"When I stop caring you'll be the first to know," I say jokingly.
"Ugh.. whatever. So what are we doing?" she asks me.
"We are headed to my house to start our complete makeover," I say excitedly. We start heading south down the road towards my house. "This is our summer," I say, with the biggest smile on my face. Allie and I have spent nearly every summer together since the age of 5, usually, we do whatever Allie wants, but this summer I am calling the shots. I am not taking any chances when it comes to my high school career.
