When they got back, a girl with short, choppy brown hair and pale green eyes--Wei--and Toph were talking with one another on the living room floor between the TV and coffee table. Katara was leaning against Aang, and Dai was singing to herself walking on the counter with a drink in her hand while Hugyeja just watched, smirking.
Dai blinked as the entered, hopping to the floor gracefully, bending her drink back into the cup as she nearly spilled. "Oops," she peeped. "Where's Sokka?"
"Nice to see you, too," Zuko responded.
Xilah pushed his way in. "What was that? Dai missed me?"
Dai scoffed and crossed her arms. "You had to bring him with?"
Seina grabbed Xilah's wrist, glaring at him. "You troll."
Xilah snickered, turning back to Seina. "What? Can't you tell that she loves me?" Dai huffed, furrowing her brows at him and giving him a puzzled look.
Seina shook her head. "No, not really." Xilah snorted, holding onto her hand.
Sokka pushed in after Xilah, arms spread out, a big grin on his face. "Dai!" he announced excitedly. He gave Xilah a look. "Move. That's my girl," he said possessively.
Dai lit up, bouncing forward and hugging him around his neck. "Sokka!" She nuzzled her face against his jaw.
Aang smiled. "Did you say yes? Or did Zuko get rejected?" he asked, chuckling.
Athlea stood by Zuko, arms linked. "Why would I reject him?" She shook her head with a smile.
Dai opened an eye to look at Aang, mumbling, "I already told you, she said yes," before closing her eyes again.
Sokka wrapped his arms around her and spun her once. She squeaking, clinging to him and giggling. "Hi, baby!" He leaned in, peppering her cheek as she flushed with quick, soft kisses.
"Hi," she responded softly, crinkling her nose and giggling.
"Make way for the engaged couple," Toph announced.
Hugyeja stood and stretched, her eyes making their way toward Dagi, Xilah, Seina, and Sahel. "You brought new friends," she observed.
Katara grabbed Aang's hand and stood, smiling. "That's Xilah, his girlfriend Seina, Dagi, and Sahel," she introduced them, nodding to each one in turn.
Weixiao had sat up straight, her eyes on the newcomers. "Hi," she greeted, her eyes bright.
Dagi pressed his lips together, then chuckled. "I wonder who has Sokka's room. Poor you. Must have smelled, right?"
Sokka glared over at him. "Shut it!"Dai glared at Dagi, leaning onto her toes, facing Sokka, to glare at him. "Actually, he spent most of his time in mine."
"Oh god." Wei facepalmed, and Hugyeja snickered.
Dagi's eye twitched and he leaned over to Sokka, whispering. Sokka blinked, glancing over at Wei before nodding. "This will be tough," Dagi muttered with a sigh.
Aang glanced at the two girls. "This is Hugyeja and Weixiao, but we call her Wei."
"Hello," Sahel greeted, a pleased look on his face. Wei nodded.Athlea turned to Zuko, raising an eyebrow. "Did you plan this all along?"
Zuko blinked at Athlea, glancing around at the decorations littering the place. "What would make you think that?" he teased, kissing her nose.
She blinked a few times, a smile on her face, and shook her head. "You really wanted it perfect," she teased. After a moment she added, "Looks like you succeeded."
Zuko leaned his head by Athlea's ear, kissing her cheek. "Perfect for my perfect future wife," he responded quietly.
"Perfect wife, huh?" She giggled. "I like that."
Zuko smirked at her teasingly. "Future wife," he corrected her."Right, right, future wife," she said, smiling.
"I'm still banking on the fact that you're leaving me."
Athlea raised an eyebrow, shaking her head. "I'm not leaving you." She frowned. "I can come over to your place next. Which I haven't for some reason," she added a bit suspiciously.
Zuko snickered at her response. Then he lit up at her suggestion. "Yes! We can do that later today. Good idea. Come on, let's get food." He grabbed her wrist and led her to the kitchen, putting a scoop of fire chips on his paper plate.Seina glanced down at her watch, leaning her head against Xilah's arm. "Let's eat! Or drink!" Sahel finally announced.
"I say we drink," Toph said.
Sokka glanced toward the counter. "Food?!"Dai kissed Sokka's cheek as he turned away, letting go of him but still clinging to his hand, her drink in the other. He smiled as her lips touched his cheek. "Look." She pointed at the counter, which was lined with trays of food. She led him to the food, grabbing a plate and letting his hand go.
"Food," Hugyeja said appreciatively, walking over to the counter and grabbing her own plate. She waved to Sokka, not having greeted him yet.
Sokka blinked a few times. "Hi, Huggy!" he said with a big grin. "How are you? Excited for school?"
Hugyeja shrugged, grabbing a plate and grinning. "Yeah, so excited for school," she responded sarcastically.
Sokka chuckled. "Come on, it can't be that bad."
"It won't be that bad," Dai responded, her eyes down as she started getting food on her plate. Sokka watched her, a smile plastered on his face. "Our school is okay. And people know not to mess with us." She snickered.
"Exactly!" Sokka said, mouth full. "No one fucks with you, and if they do, I'm here." He set his plate down, flexing.
Dai scoffed, turning her face toward the food as Sokka flexed. "Please, as if you could protect her from someone I couldn't."Sokka pouted. "Babe, don't embarrass me..."
"Aw, look at him, so sad," Dagi teased."I can protect myself," Hugyeja muttered.
Dagi butted in. "Unless it's Azula."
Dai just snorted, glancing back at Dagi. "I don't know, Althie and I handled her pretty well."
"Azula is a different breed," Sokka agreed with a shrug.Dai glanced at Sokka, leaning onto her toes to pat his head. "See? You might have muscles, but I'm stronger," she teased. She grabbed his arm softly before turning back to her food, elbowing him slightly.
"Let's not make the baby any sadder than he already is," Dagi muttered.
"I'm strong!" Sokka protested.
Dai giggled, leaning onto her toes to kiss his cheek. "Oh my lord, Sokka, I'm teasing you."
"I think you're strong, Sokka," Hugyeja said, giving Dai a teasing look.
Dai narrowed her eyes, then rolled them, grabbing Sokka's hand. "Come eat with me."***
