Cherish
“I’m going to kill him.”
I said as I slid my phone into the back pocket of my jeans.
“What did he say?”
Nadia asked while shifting her weight to her other foot and crossing her arms.
“To wait a little. See if it works then and if not call back.”
Sometimes I think my dad is seriously stupid. Like, how can you be a doctor if you think a car will just magically start when it is completely dead? Well, I mean you don’t really have to know about cars to tell someone if they are sick.
“You have to be fucking kidding me.”
Bryanna said sitting down on the curb. I was all of these girls ride home Nadia,Bryanna and Kylie.
“Well, I’m getting a cab cause I’m freezing and I have to meet Aubrey at his office in a half-hour.”
Kylie said and I gave her a dirty look as I took in what she was wearing. No wonder she was cold. It was a few days from Thanksgiving and she was dressing like it was August.
“Whatever. Bye Ky.”
I waved her off and adjusted my own outfit.
“Who the fuck is Aubrey?”
Bryanna asked not looking away from the phone she was typing on.
“That guy she has been seeing? You know the one we met this summer?”
She looked up.
“Drake?”
I nodded and she gave a confused look and went back to typing.
We all met Drake this summer. We were all into the phase of wanting to act. We looked into it and one of the agents we met was him. It never went anywhere for any of us because we didn’t even see him any after that day. Well, none of us but Kylie. Apparently she had been seeing him and we didn’t find out til last month. Some best friends huh? Aubrey is his first name and she insists on calling him by it because she say’s it is more ‘mature’ and since she in only eighteen and he is twenty-six she thinks she is grown for being with him. She is really getting herself into something much bigger than can handle.
An hour later and I am still standing here. I have scrolled through endless tweets and instagram pictures. I’m sick of being here. My dad still thinks that somehow the car thing is my problem. I looked around the parking lot. There were a few teachers cars closer to the school doors and one directly across from mine in the next row. I think is was Jordynn’s. Jordynn transferred here last year. The school was fairly mixed with kids from good neighborhoods and kids from poor ones. She lived in the hood but always had the finest. So when she first got here everyone thought she was going to be crazy or something. But, she was chill. I didn’t hang out with her but we had a few classes together. I looked back at the school doors and she was just now coming out. Why was she here so late?
“Cherish? Right?”
She asked standing between our cars.
“Yeah.”
I smiled.
“You having car problems?”
She asked walking over to me. I nodded again and made a sarcastic annoyed look which made her laugh.
“I will call my brother, hes good at shit like that.”
“Thank you so much! I have been here since school got out.”
