Let's get one thing straight, JJ Maybank doesn't catch feelings...but the way his pants slightly tighten at the few of River diving into the water or taking her shirt off, that happened to be too big was driving him insane.
After the day they spent in her room, filled with her innocently talking about school and books, and his eyes traveled over her curves, and caramel skin; His mind has consisted of her. See to him, whoever he wanted he could have, but to River, he was a boy who still annoyed her.
"Ayo riv, you can stay here tonight. it's late." John b patted her head, as he usually did.
"Yeah, I'll take you home on my way to work." JJ continued.
"Okay, I gotta call my mom though." She set down her coke, standing up.
"Maybe you'd have a little more fun with life if you picked up a beer once in a while." The blonde joked.
"Hey, I'm high on life." River responded walking outside.
"Says the girl who smoked every gram of my weed today!!" JJ yelled, even though she was already on the porch.
"I swear that girl gonna be the death of-"
"no." John b spoke from the fridge, but Pope spoke next.
"Must you ruin every girl's idea of men?" The blonde scoffed but didn't bother defending himself. Instead, he stood up and followed River outside. When he stepped out to the porch she was hanging up the phone.
"what does the mom say?" He asked leaning against the door frame. She smiled, and for once opted to have a civil conversation with the boy.
"She said yes, I just gotta be home tomorrow." When she took a step past him, her bicep was tightly grabbed and pulled back to face him. Once again she had found herself in this position, face inches away from his, but this time her breath picked up, as well as her heart. She couldn't seem to tear her eyes away from the blue ones staring back at her.
JJ lifted his hand from her arm, to tuck a curl behind her ear.
"I annoy you don't I bookworm."
"s-shut up." She swallowed the lump in her throat, as his lips ghosted over hers. She didn't want this..right?
"j..." Her sentence faded away into nothingness as she felt his hand snake up her shirt. Rivers head fell back onto the door frame behind her, her eyes closing in defeat.
"fuck." She sighed, and she didn't know it but that small gesture made JJ go crazy, he wanted to ruin her, make the innocent bookworm, his. However, she pushed away from him suddenly, looking at him for a second before walking back inside.
"I'll take the pullout." She smiled clearing her throat and paying no attention to the blonde standing behind her.
"I call guest room!" Pope yelled.
"looks like you're stuck with me." JJ's lips pressed behind river's ear before walking to the kitchen. She watched him carefully as he started to nag on Pope, she liked to watch them interact, it seemed like no one seemed to notice how much JJ loved him.

After the boys finished a pack of beers and bullied River about pretty much everything, the girl finally snuggled under the warm blanket on the pullout. Only downside...She couldn't sleep knowing he was next to her.
"You up?" She mumbled, he didn't respond with words just a slight chuckle.
"You good bookworm?" His voice was deep, raspy.. causing a shiver to travel down her spine.
fuck it.
She turned around suddenly, connecting his lips with hers, almost instantly moving in sync. It feels better than good, she couldn't process what she did or even if she liked it but she didn't want it to stop. His warm tongue slid across River's bottom lip, but she denied knowing what was happening was wrong. He grabbed her, lifting the girl onto her lap. Making her pull away for a moment.
"Riv-"
"shut up." She leaned in again, her hands twisting around his blonde waves.
"So needy." He mumbled against her neck. And as much as JJ wanted to pretend he knew he could get this, he was kinda shocked, but the way River's hips were lazily rolling against his made him dizzy. Then john b's bedroom door opened, causing the girl to jump up and off of his lap. The brunette used the bathroom then went back to his room. She turned away from JJ partly in embarrassment and more in shame.
"River.." He started.
"just..-goodnight."
