"hi everyone, this is my sister, y/n!" El smiled, hooking her arm around mine, but i was not paying attention. A girl with bright ginger hair was sat beaming right at me, and for some reason i didn't know what to do. I was frozen on the spot, it was like only my brain was working, not my arms or legs. I was well aware of them all staring at me now so i had to say something, anything. "h-hi," i stuttered.

" i'm Dustin, and it's lovely to finally meet you," a boy with extremely curly hair smiled, standing up and walking over to shake my hand. I shook it back and smiled gingerly, taken aback by his sudden eagerness.
"i'm lucas, i- uhhh we've heard so much about you," another boy said, awkwardly waving from the couch.
"i'm Will," a boy with a very sharp bowl cut grinned.
"I'm mike, this is my basement and i'm sure your sister has told you lots about me," Mike walked over to me, but instead of shaking my hand he kissed El on the cheek. gross.
"And i'm Max, it's gonna be nice having another girl around,"the girl beamed again, and winked leaving me speechless.

It was deadly awkward at first, no one really knew what to say, but after a while they started firing questions at me, it was funny actually.
"do you have powers? Like El?" lucas asked, leaning in and waiting in anticipation for my answer.

I nodded, and turned to look at a plastic toy of some sort on the coffee table. I closed my eyes and imagined it moving and i slowly jerked my hand, i heard them gasp as the toy fell to the ground, and just as they thought i was done, i imagined the toy transporting into my hand, via a small portal invisible to human eye. I opened my eyes to see everyone staring at me opened mouthed and wiped a small drop of blood from my nose.

"teleportation and telekinesis..." dustin whispered in awe, as he slowly took the toy from my hand, admiring it as if it possessed the magic qualities itself.
"You are such a nerd, Dustin" lucas laughed catching my eye and flashing me a smile.

El smiled supportively at me and i smiled back... this wasn't turning out to be as bad as i thought. so far so good.

Max spoke next, making my heart flutter and i couldn't explain why. "Wait so El tells us she rescued you from brenner...like how long have you been living with hopper now?" she rested her chin in her hands as she watched me closely for my answer.
"well, El rescued me 2 years ago, but i refused to leave hoppers cabin, he didn't want me to anyway, because the bad men were after me, papa was after me. I was a lot more dangerous than El, Papa called me his weapon, and i was treated like one too. But i'm here now, and i'm getting braver," i finished staring back at Max with adoration in my eyes.

We talked for ages after that, and i got to know everyone else a bit better too.
Lucas had a sister, and was very VERY good at dancing, dustin was really smart, he even went to science camp with his girlfriend (who no one believed existed), Mike was... okay, i didn't really know what to make of him when he was constantly making out with my sister, Will was really shy, and he told me all about the upside down and the demogorgon. I understood his pain, after being through something similar a while back. And Max- what could i say about Max? she was awesome for a start, she could skateboard, and was the highest scorer on a game called "dig dug", whatever that was, and she had an older brother, Billy. It was crazy how in a few hours i had got to learn everyone's backstories, i felt like i had known them forever. I finally understood what it was like to have friends. real, friends. Not just Eleven and Hopper, but people my age, who weren't related to me. Eventually we had to go, and we made a promise to meet up again soon, and Max had triple promised she would teach me how too skate, which i was definitely looking forwards to.

We arrived back at hoppers cabin at around 4-1-5, which was the time me and El would sit infront of the TV for a bit, but today i was far too excited to watch the newest soap opera. "El! ur friends are so so so so cool like i feel like i've known them my whole life and i wanna spend every day with them!" i blurted out all at once and El chuckled, pushing a strand of my curly brown hair out of my face. "i told you you'd like them, and anyways, they totally loved you don't worry! Oh by the way, what did you think of Lucas?"
"he was cool, whyd you ask?"
"he totally has a huge massive crush on you!" El laughed.
"Crush? what is crush?" i asked.
"it's when you really really like someone and you want to be boyfriend and girlfriend," El explained.
"Lucas crushes me?" i repeat slowly, trying to understand the process.
"yeah, Lucas has a crush on you," El corrected me. "don't you want a boyfriend like me?"

I thought for a minute, and the only person i wanted to be my Boyfriend was Max, even though she was girl. A girl couldn't be my boyfriend? right? and i don't know anyone who has a girl boyfriend. I didn't want to ask El about it, so i lied. And i know friends don't lie, but this time it didn't count.

"yeah i totally want a boyfriend! Does max have one?" i asked casually.
"Well her old boyfriend was lucas,but they broke up a while ago,"
I didn't hear the rest as i felt a weird feeling in my chest, like excitement,but i couldn't quite put my finger on it. Max didn't have a boyfriend, yet she couldn't be my boyfriend because she was a girl. The concept of having a boyfriend was new to me, but i thought about how happy it made El, i mean she was always talking about Mike wasn't she? Then i thought about Lucas, he was cool i guess, he was funny, and he was really interested in my backstory, so maybe i could give him a chance.

"Oh and by the way, Max wants to take y/n shopping whilst i spend the day with Mike tomorrow ," Eleven told hopper who was sat reading the newspaper and the table.
"s-she does?" i asked, that nervous feeling coming back,  but mixed with excitement. I couldn't explain it.
"Yeah she told me to tell you to meet her at the mall at 10-0-0, so Hopper can drive you," and a grunt of agreement came from the kitchen.

I had never been out without El before but i wasn't nervous like i thought i would be, i would spending the day with Max, super duper cool Max, and to tell you the truth i couldn't wait.
