Chapter 5

September 3rd West-Reeve High 10:30
This was Jon first day back since the accident the week before, he was just after getting out of Maths and was heading to his locker. He could feel people watching him and heard them speaking about what happened in the bathroom. Damian's locker was down from Jon's and he was already at his when Jon was going to his. Jon shut his locker and went to talk to Damian but he stopped when Raven arrived

"Rae, what are you doing here" Damian asked

"I transferred here from Jump City High, to be closer to you I thought you'd be happier" Raven said

"I am just confused, why would you do all of this" Damian asked

"I feel like the reasons we haven't worked out in the past is because we were far apart but now I'm closing the gap" Raven said kissing him

This sight caused Jon's heart to shatter, he should have seen this coming he shouldn't have kissed him and he shouldn't have let him kiss him. Damian saw Jon running off and he knew he had screwed up

"So do you want to go somewhere after school" Raven asked

Damian didn't answer he continued looking at where Jon was standing

"Hey Damian, you in there" Raven said

"Sorry what did you say" Damian asked

"Do you want to do something after school" Raven asked

"No I can I have a thing to do" Damian said

"What thing" Raven asked

"I thought we said we would call before if we wanted to make plans" Damian said

"I tried to, twice but you didn't pick up yesterday" Raven said

Damian thought back to the previous day, he didn't remember her calling him until he remembered his phone rang twice while he was with Jon

"Yeah I was busy, I gotta run or I'll be late to English" Damian said

Damian ran off leaving her standing at his locker, she felt something was off but shrugged it off and went to her own class. Damian didn't have any classes with Jon until last class when they had music. His teacher had asked a question which he hear but he zoned out

"Anyone? Anyone at all?. Okay, let's try this does anyone even remember what book I assigned to read?" The teacher asked

"Mark Helprin, Winter's Tale" Damian sighed

This didn't amuse his class who called him a show off and dork but immediately stopped when he turned to look at them

"Well it's good to see a sign of life in this class. Feel free to enlighten us, Mr.Wayne, on the main point of the reading" his teacher asked

"It's about Gotham City, basically. Which is a lot better than Metropolis believe me. Helprin's saying that over time, the city will always find a way to protect its people, and its suffering will be avenged" Damian said

"What like the Gotham City Batman" Alex laughed

"It will lead to a new golden age, really it's pretty basic stuff" Damian finished

"Well said Mr.Wayne, now the rest of you have to read the first seven chapters and write me a piece on what you took from them Mr.Wayne you are exempt" the teacher said

"I would expect noting less" Damian smirked

At lunch Damian entered the canteen but didn't see Jon or that group of friends so he approached Conor and Art who were sitting with Tai
