Gentle sips of foaming green tea lattes resonated throughout the warm, skylit room. The hustle and bustle of a busy Monday morning filled the bar with many a body looking for a quick sunrise pick me up before heading out for their daily tours.
The Depresso Bar is a curious place, attracting the widest array of consumers from around town. The Depresso Bar consists of the main floor, which holds the depresso counter and our seating area. And the despondency lounge, which is our individual bar pods for the twenty-one and older crowd as alcohol is served here. Early morning sun floods the Depresso Bar each morning, warming up the floors for the fresh morning rush each day. Skylights located directly up above the floor, or more commonly known as the roof or ceiling, allows for more natural light to be distributed inside onto the greenery draped down on every wall. The dark oak wood floors lay underneath the grey metal chairs and sunflower and sacred lotus epoxy tables. Each flower-encased resin-topped table is equipped with small wire trays filled with napkins, sugar, and creamer. The tables can only sit up to a party of four at a time and are set six feet apart from each other as new regulations have been put in place. Opposite of the front double glass entry doors sits the Depresso Bar order counter, a large dark oak counter with separate order and pick up windows. Up above the counter windows are the menu chalkboards, written by hand and changed as needed when new items are added or others are removed.
The despondency lounge is located at the back of the house in its own hallway of rooms, this area is for the ones who feel better when falling deeper into the void. Lights are kept at a dim red, as to not irritate the eyes. We have six different bar pods to be seated in, enclosed in their own rooms as to provide you your own private space to be in. Each pod is lined with black velvet couches and equipped with grey metal tables. No greenery can be found in these rooms, as the corners are too dark without having any windows, but small bunches of lavender can be found atop the metal tables along with the wire basket of cafe essentials. The lingering scent of lavender is used to help keep you calm while you fall further into yourself.
Our Despondency Lounge offers our specialty stirred drink; The Purple Nihilism; Gin, tequila, and purple kool-aid stirred in a tall chilled glass with small square ice cubes, to get you deeper into your dark state of mind. The purple color blends with the dim red lights of the lounge to create a glass of void, a dark tall glass of calm for your body and mind. But back out at the Depresso Bar main floor, we offer the highest quality of drinks and small foods to give you the pick-me-up you need to start or end your day.
We offer a hand full of snacks and drinks as well, but featured is our dark cholate dipping counter. One of our team members will help assist you in getting a bowl of fruits or treats dipped in the purest of Belgium dark chocolate to help your mood-boosting cravings. Our menu also has a wide range of snack items to cater to everyone's needs, from lactose-free to vegan and vegetarian. But of course, we can't say we're the Depresso Bar without having a little bit of espresso now, can we? Our house signature Depresso Espresso, a blend of beans from Latin America and Asia, and are brewed to order.
