What If?

"What if he feels vulnerable? No.. He is way too strong to be like that. But you never know, I shouldn't assume." You wonder.

"Akutagawa-san! There's a spider on your coat-" Higuchi jumps.

You go towards him and pick it up. You set it free. You quickly look up and realize that you have gotten too close to Akutagawa-san and quickly back up.

"Apologies, Akutagawa-san. I just wanted to get the spider off of you. I didn't mean to invad-"

"It's fine."

You're curious why he was so quick to answer, but you don't think much of it. You proceed to catch up with the group and join their conversation. Akutagawa-san doesn't walk any faster, he just stays behind minding his business. You watch him as you walk.

"He looks hella lonely." You think to yourself.

As you settle into your room. You plop your bag on the ground and order some lunch. As you are wandering around the halls, you see Akutagawa-san pulling a girl with blue hair. She appears to be very young, and seems like she doesn't want to cooperate with him. She is crying, and you notice that she has a small phone attached to a necklace around her neck. Although you are in a mafia, you don't agree with violence towards children. You notice that Akutagawa-san is ruthlessly pulling her, not caring whether or not her wrist hurts.

You decide to step in.

"Akutagawa-san! What are you doing? She seems to be in pain-"

"Be quiet, this doesn't concern you."

"Excuse me? Sorry but it actually does. Why are you forcing her to follow you?"

In truth, in didn't concern you. But you didn't want to just watch the poor girl be dragged.

"She's my weapon, and will be used until she has proven that she is no longer useful."

"She is a real person! Please let her go-"

"Listen Y/N. I have already told you who she is and why she is here when it was unnecessary. I need you to leave or we will have issues here."

You begin to get furious. You are more upset actually, but you are not about to let this girl be used. You assume she has a power, and decide to grab her from Akutagawa-san and hold her behind you.

"Well then I guess we will have issues. Because I am not about to let you use her like this. Please let her be, we can talk about this!" You only hope he will listen to your words.

"I cannot just let her go. But I will put her usefulness on hold for a moment. You better hope that you have a reasonable explanation for this Y/N."

You pull him into a room. You have always kept your space around him, but you decide to drag his thin wrist into the room just as he was doing a moment ago.

"What is the meaning of this?" He asks.

"Listen. From what I have already heard, it's clear that your 'Dazai-sama' has mentally traumatized you. You are only continuing this chain of abuse onto that young girl."

"Do you like, or like like me?"

"What?..." You are shocked by that response.

"Do you like me just because I'm your mentor? Just because I'm strong? Are you scared of me? Or do you actually understand my case. Please don't lie."

You have no clue how to respond. You don't want to lie, so you put your words together carefully.

"I do understand you. Although I may not have the same case, I can definitely empathize with you. I get where you are coming from, and I hope that you understand where I am coming from. You shouldn't continue this chain just because you went through it."

You hug him.

You don't want to let go. You want to get rid of all his anger. You want to help him love himself. You quickly snap back into reality, you notice that he isn't hugging you back, but he isn't pushing you off either. You sit back.

"Sorry."

"Alright, I don't know how to change yet, but I'll let Kyouka go."

"Kyouka? Is that the little girl?"

"Yes. Don't you dare tell Kōyō-san though, she won't be happy."

"Okay, can I go speak to Kyouka?"

"Fine, make sure to be quick so I can have her run off."

You step out the room, heading towards Kyouka.

"Hello, please don't be scared. I am going to help you. I convinced that man to let you go. I am really sorry for what you have went through. Please heal from this trauma, do you need help getting back home? I promise I won't bite..."

"No. I'm fine thank you. Bye."

You know that she is terrified. You don't even need to read her mind. You take her to the doors, and send her off. You wish the best for her. Now back to Akutagawa-san...
